– Caring for employees. Supporting communities. Doing business responsibly. Improving our world.

Plexus’ Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) program contains five pillars that reinforce our commitment to create a better world by being an industry steward, a responsible employer, a community partner, a global citizen and a promoter of corporate governance.

During these unprecedented times, Plexus Penang remains committed to our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts in order to support the needs of our local community.

Plexus is honored to support front line workers of the pandemic by partnering with various organizations, including American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce, general hospitals, non-government organizations and police stations to source and sponsor personal protective equipment (PPE).

In addition to supporting the physical needs of the community, Plexus Penang remains committed to nurturing the educational needs of our future talent. Over the past 12 years, Plexus has donated over RM1M to more than 25 local schools and educational institutions, including funding the creation of the first two MakerLabs in mainland Penang.

This year, we participated in the ‘E-Learning Computer Program’, initiated by the Penang State government, to donate new laptops to students in need. We recognize the importance of having reliable computers at home, particularly as remote education has become essential during these times of sustained social distancing.

Plexus Penang, together with our 8,000 team members, is proud to support our community. Together, we are committed to strengthening our community as we create the products that build a better world. We encourage you to visit our Sustainability homepage to learn more about Plexus’ commitment to ESG.

In service to people everywhere who are caring for their families and communities – all day, every day, P&G people are stepping up and serving others as a force for good to ensure the health and safety of our employees, maximizing availability of products and helping society overcome the challenges of COVID-19. For generations, we have united to support consumers and communities through unexpected challenges, providing the brands people count on to take care of their personal health and hygiene and to create healthy homes.

Doing our part as a good corporate citizen, P&G Malaysia has provided financial support and P&G personal care products donation collectively valued over USD 300,000 to selected hospitals, medical front liners and low-income communities. We have partnered with The Lost Food Project to ensure families who do not have basic access to the everyday essentials many of us take for granted, can have the cleaning, health and hygiene benefits P&G brands can provide. Beyond our brands, we have a long history of supporting communities in times of need — and we are answering the call to do even more.

– Komuniti Guru Digital Learning+, upskilling school teachers to deliver lessons digitally in collaboration with Arus Academy.

In 2019, PwC launched ‘New world. New skills.’, a global initiative that aims to upskill millions of people worldwide. For PwC Malaysia, we wanted to ensure that our nation’s youth (our future leaders) are also given opportunities to upskill. To do that, we felt an effective way would be to reach those who can reach them: the teachers. So in June 2020, we collaborated with Arus Academy to launch Komuniti Guru Digital Learning+ (KGDL+), a programme that trains teachers to design lesson plans that can be delivered to students through various digital platforms.

We had 54 teachers in our first cohort, all of whom participated in a series of virtual workshops on how to adapt their approach to teaching. Over a period of 5 months, six subjects were covered within the programme: Matematik, Sains, Asas Sains Komputer, Reka Bentuk & Teknologi, Sejarah, and Geography for Form 1 to Form 3.

Following the workshops, we encouraged the teachers to apply the skills gained in building teaching and learning materials based on the academic needs of their students. More than 40 volunteers from PwC Malaysia have contributed their time to help the teachers digitise learning and teaching materials. More than 1,000 teaching materials were completed by the time the programme ended in late October 2020. The programme is supported by the state education departments of Kedah, Perlis and Sarawak.

– Giving is not about making a donation. It is about making a difference.

People are the heart of a hospital and commitment towards supporting them especially when they need healthcare the most remains the core of Sunway Medical Centre’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts.

For the past 5 years, Sunway Medical Centre has focused on helping patients with cancer and one of our notable initiatives are our efforts towards early cancer detection, prevention and treatment. Our collaboration with Shopee in November 2019 encouraged the importance of early cancer detection where donations to the ShopeeMAKNA Official Store received complimentary blood tests and 3D mammogram packages. Additionally, we also donated RM20,000 in cash to MAKNA in aid of their cause.

Our passion for cancer management stems from our belief that cancer is not the end and early detection as well as the right treatment can make a difference for cancer patients. Hence, we are constantly supporting our cancer patients be it through their medical, physical, financial or even mental needs. Another critical support for our patients is granting discounts off their bills, which saw over RM1 million contributed from over the past year. Bone marrow (stem cell) transplant is one of the cores at Sunway Medical Centre, offering the procedure at discounted rates since 2018 through a one-stop centre equipped with a multidisciplinary team of transplant experts and advanced technology who see patients through their journey towards recovery.

Sunway Medical Centre also plays a key role in supporting and collaborating with other organisations to help society. Notably, the RM275,000 raised during the event of “Sunway The Good Run” was donated to cover medical treatment costs for cancer patients in the B40 group via the Media Prima-NSTP Humanitarian Fund.

Additionally, the hospital has successfully implemented health campaigns such as the Let’s Take 5 and Let’s ACE (Attack Cancer Effectively) that signify our innovative efforts in contributing back to society. Other on-going initiatives include free health screenings, public health talks, awareness campaigns on various medical-related issues, and supporting a range of community events.
