In our efforts to cushion the impact of disruptions caused by COVID-19 outbreak, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) wishes to announce additional measures to support SMEs and individuals.
BNM is enhancing the existing financing facilities under the BNM’s Fund for SMEs (the Fund), and increasing the allocation of the facilities by an additional RM4.0 billion to RM13.1 billion. These enhancements are aimed at providing assistance to more SMEs in sustaining business operations and preserving jobs, as well as to support economic growth. Read More

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, April 16, 2020 — Texas Instruments (TI) announced a donation of US$250,000 (MYR 1,085,000) to support COVID-19 relief efforts in Malaysia. TI’s donation will be used to purchase personal protective equipment (PPE) for frontline medical and public service workers, and food aid to support communities affected by the pandemic surrounding our factories and throughout Malaysia.
“Ensuring the needs of our communities are met is critical, both for our medical frontliners and for those who are greatly affected by the Movement Control Order due to the pandemic. This grant is our way of reaffirming our commitment to Malaysians, while our teams continue to work to manufacture essential semiconductor products that the world relies on, especially now,” said Subbah Rao, managing director of TI’s factory in Melaka.
During the first two phases of the Movement Control Order (MCO), the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs approved the operations of various industry players to ensure the public would have access to essential and critical needs. This is the latest update for the third phase of the MCO.

The Cabinet agreed to allow additional economic sectors to operate in phases subject to compliance with health guidelines and strict movement control. As a safety measure, MITI will collaborate with the Ministry of Human Resource through SOCSO where all workers are required to undergo COVID-19 screening. Employers applying to operate must ensure that all their workers undergo screening at any of the 3000 over SOCSO panel health clinics nation wide according to MOH guidelines.
