Sustainability at Celestica
For the last 10 years, sustainability has been integrated into everything we do. At Celestica, we understand we have a role to play in improving our world and protecting the planet. Through our sustainability initiatives, we collaborate with each other, as well as our customers and suppliers, to drive positive change both within our company and in our communities. Our sustainability strategy focuses on four key pillars: our communities, our planet, our products and services, and our people.
In the area of communities, we leverage our collective expertise and resources to drive positive change. We also establish partnerships in the communities in which we operate, and empower our employees to volunteer.
From Kulim to Johor, our employees are always exploring ways to make positive changes to their communities and the environment. Since 2016, our Kulim team has been contributing to the Rumah Amal Kulim, a community learning center that caters to the special needs of disabled students and children. Over the years, our teams have built an outdoor rest area and a multimedia room to enhance the facilities at the center. Currently, the team is setting up a nursery room for the children.
As the world continues to combat COVID-19, our Johor employees invested time and effort to sew more than 1500 pieces of face masks. Along with 30 boxes of face mask and hand sanitisers, these items were donated to nearby primary schools. Beyond helping the communities, our teams also make on-going efforts to Go Green. In the Herbal Garden project, our employees planted herbs at both our Senai and Seelong facilities through the use of recycled tires and wooden pallets.
Positive change does not happen overnight, but by drawing on the efforts of our employees, we are creating solutions that are greater than the sum of our individual ideas, activities and initiatives.

– Community engagement at Citi is a shared responsibility. We call it Pathways to Progress. Through Citi Foundation, we continuously invest in financial inclusion, youth entrepreneur development and urban transformation initiatives.
Citizenship is core to Citi and a responsibility shared by all of our businesses, clients, suppliers and communities. We continuously invest in initiatives that enhance financial inclusion, create job opportunities for youth and introduce new approaches to build and sustain vibrant cities.
In Malaysia, Citi has proactively embraced a “More than Philanthropy’ approach to our strategic community initiatives. Our focus areas are in Urban Transformation, Financial Inclusion and Youth Economic Opportunities.
Citi Foundation grant partners in Malaysia are Think City, a subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Berhad. Think City is a community-based urban regeneration body that seeks to create more sustainable and livable cities. Citi has partnered Think City over the last 6 years pioneering corporate sponsorship of urban migration research, development of cultural and arts initiatives in the heart of Kuala Lumpur City and in the past two years, a focus on Laneway Improvements to transform dilapidated laneways into vibrant community spaces with opportunities for healthy living based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the New Urban Agenda set by the United Nations (UN-Habitat).
An extension of Think City’s focus on urban transformation includes a strategic approach to inner-city social problems including homelessness and social stigma related to migrant communities in three laneways in historic Kuala Lumpur.
Think City also provides opportunities for selected community and civil society partners to jointly address significant social issues. There is also a significant environmental dimension that will involve waste management opportunities with local communities.
In the area of Youth Entrepreneurship, Citi is in partnership with the Asia School of Business supporting The Rapid Youth Success Entrepreneurship (RYSE) Program to improve youth unemployment rates in urban Malaysia. Low-income students from community colleges in the country are taught innovation and design thinking by the Asia School of Business team in addition to social entrepreneurship skills and e-commerce.

– World Without Waste
At Coca-Cola Malaysia, we take our responsibility to the communities we call home seriously. We have a longstanding belief that our business can only be as strong and successful as the communities we serve. That’s why we act in ways to create a more sustainable and better shared future for everyone, even more so given the current unprecedented challenges. We are focused on growing our business the right way to respond effectively to the collective needs of our communities across Malaysia,” said Mr Ahmed Yehia G. El Deen, Country Manager for Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.
Over our 84 years in Malaysia, Coca-Cola Malaysia has worked with various organisations to realise our sustainable priorities, essentially our 3Ws initiatives.
To achieve our global vision of a World Without Waste in Malaysia, we partner several NGOs namely, Malaysian Nature Society (MNS), UPM and Waste Management Association of Malaysia on various awareness campaigns; river-cleaning activities; the 4R2C or Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Composting and Closing the Loop initiative; environmental contests; coastal clean-ups with Reef Check Malaysia; and waste management programmes.
As part of our Water Stewardship pillar, our Water For Life programme with Muslim Aid Malaysia Humanitarian Fund, the Johor Forestry Department and Forest Research Institute Malaysia helps to protect peat swamp forests in Ayer Hitam. We’ve also been working with Raleigh International and the Malaysian Nature Society to help communities get access to clean water for drinking, and to get students recognize the importance of water conservation.
Our third pillar is Women Entrepreneurship, whereby our Coca-Cola Komuniti Usahawan (KU) programme has empowered almost 16,000 women in Malaysia since 2017.
We look forward to continued success in our partnerships to refresh the world and make a difference.

– ConocoPhillips is committed to respectfully engaging with local stakeholders to understand their values and interests, and build long-term benefits for both the company and communities where we operate.
ConocoPhillips recognizes that the most effective corporate philanthropy can be achieved by entering into strategic partnerships with organizations that serve the community with lasting social impact. For this reason, we have partnered with the U.S Embassy in Malaysia on our signature CSR program, the Fulbright English Teaching Assistants program in Sabah. This program makes a difference in children’s education through invigorating student learning via skills development and educational activities.
ConocoPhillips also supports MyKasih ‘Love My School’, a student bursary program that provides assistance in the form of cashless bursaries for the purchase of schoolbooks and stationery, as well as food and drinks from the canteen.
Since 2006, ConocoPhillips has been awarding scholarships to Geology students from University Malaya and Petroleum Engineering students from University Teknologi Malaysia. The scholarship provides access and opportunities for high quality tertiary learning and education for our future leaders.
ConocoPhillips also contributes to the Sabah Society for the Deaf, where we support hearing impaired children. With ConocoPhillips’ support, a library was successfully set-up and additional resources were made available for the children.
Through its Employee Volunteer Program, ConocoPhillips employees gathered to beautify an Orang Asli (Indigenous People) School in Damansara Perdana, Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Lanjan earlier this year. In addition, ConocoPhillips continue to provide financial aid to the underprivileged in the day to day running of charities and homes.
ConocoPhillips Malaysia is grateful to play our part to fight the battle against COVID-19 by donating funds through MY AMCHAM CARES and to the Ministry of Health COVID-19 fund, as well as MERCY Malaysia COVID-19 relief efforts.
ConocoPhillips continues to engage with our stakeholders and the communities where we operate to understand their needs and contribute to economic opportunities.

– The pandemic does not stop us from caring for our community and environment. We did our best while ensuring all safety guidelines are met so that our people and partners stay safe.
2020 has been an unprecedented year with the community impacted substantially by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, that does not deter Dow Malaysia from continuing to contribute in various ways. In partnership with HOPE Worldwide Malaysia, Dow has engaged various segments of the community.
Dow supported 200 low-income families with care packs which include two months’ worth of groceries and hygiene products. Specifically, this has benefitted families including those who lost their jobs, elderly persons and single-parent family units. The deliveries were made across two months in April and May.
To help bridge digital literacy among underprivileged children from urban-poor families, Dow supported HOPE’s Robotic STEAM education & Micro:bit Boson Continuation Learning program. The program aims to create interest in learning to help shape the future of underprivileged youths in Kuala Lumpur. The program also provided opportunities to vulnerable youths in developing their engineering skills which aligns with Malaysia’s way forward in reaching a computation thinker society.
Against the pandemic backdrop, Dow’s perseverance to keep plastic waste out of the environment has led to selfpaced clean ups among its employees and their family members. Into its third year, the #PullingOurWeight clean ups took place between September 14 to 20 in conjunction with Hari Malaysia holiday. This initiative aims to create greater awareness of plastic waste in the environment, promote responsible waste management, encourage recycling, and aligns with Dow’s sustainability targets to Stop the Waste and Close the Loop.
