– 3M improves lives around the world.

3M helps build sustainable communities through strategic investments and the thoughtful involvement of 3M businesses, facilities and employees globally to make a difference in the world. 3Mgives, the primary social investment arm of 3M, supports initiatives in areas such as education, environment and community vibrancy to improve lives and provide solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

Education:

3M partners with schools, universities and other organizations to ensure students and teachers have the resources and knowledge they need to succeed in STEM. By supporting education initiatives that advance equitable outcomes in STEM and business for underrepresented and under-resourced students, 3M empowers the next generation of scientists and engineers.

Environment:

3M engages in environmental initiatives to make a positive impact on the Earth. As a leader in sustainability, 3M works with various partners to support the sustainability goals and needs of our customers and our communities.

Community:

3M enhances the vibrancy of our communities by assuring access to basic needs, preparing youth for lifelong success, increasing access to diverse arts opportunities, and contributing to global humanitarian relief efforts.

3M’s Volunteering Program:

3M encourages our employees and alumni to find a cause they feel passionate about and make a difference in their communities through volunteerism. Thousands of 3Mers participate through 3Mgives volunteer programs, mentoring students and youth, serving on nonprofit boards, and helping people in need around the world. In the Asia Pacific region, 16,900 volunteer hours have been contributed by employees in 2019 out of 273,000 in total, globally.

– We care about our communities.

In continuation of our focus on CSR efforts and in giving back to the community, we adapted and remained agile to the new norm, we focused on what was needed the most during unprecedented times, looking for ways to support our communities.

Through the Amex Foundation, a donation of US$ 100,000 (approximately RM426,450) was made to MERCY Malaysia to help mitigate the impact of COVID-19 within marginalized communities of Malaysia. The funds are used to purchase and distribute essentials such as food items, non-food items, hygiene and cleaning kits to cushion the negative impact of the pandemic on the lives of those in need. The outreach is targeted at:

• B40 population at PPRs (Program Perumahan Rakyat) and urban areas

• B40 population in rural areas

• Refugees and stateless communities in urban and rural areas

• People with disabilities

• Orang Asli communities in rural areas

Thanking our HealthCare Heroes – By showing our gratitude and support towards our frontlines, our colleagues wrote hundreds of thank you notes and uplifting messages that were compiled into a photobook, along with chocolates. These were presented to the staff of two hospitals that were key for COVID-19 treatments in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. Backing the communities in which we live and work is an essential part of our brand promise. One way we bring this to life is through Give2Gether, our annual giving campaign. Give2Gether is a platform where our Amex colleagues can choose from among thousands of projects submitted to the GlobalGiving platform by vetted nonprofits in more than 170 countries, including but not limited to causes such as animal welfare, education, COVID-19 relief, etc. Contributions will then be matched dollar for dollar by the American Express Foundation.

Our backing extends beyond our customers to the communities where we live and work. We believe that it’s good for both our business and our communities to invest financial and human resources in ways that address the social, environmental and economic needs of our communities, customers, shareholders and partners, especially during these trying times.

– Improving the financial health of all Malaysians

At AmMetLife Insurance Berhad (AmMetLife), we aim to build a more protected world for our customers by providing them with products and solutions to help them lead confident, enriched and healthier lives. To ensure AmMetLife plays its part in helping to build more inclusive, financially secure communities, the MetLife Foundation is actively supporting programs in Malaysia aimed at promoting financial health and supporting local communities and youth.

Helping communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic

Through the “Bags for Needy” program, Food Aid Malaysia provide food supplies to low-income families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. With the support of MetLife Foundation, nearly 12,000 individuals were provided with essential food items, helping to ease the burden they faced during this challenging period. Corporate volunteers from AmMetLife and AmMetLife Takaful also helped out in sorting and packing food supplies which were then distributed to the families in need.

MetLife Foundation’s contribution to the MYAMCHAMCARES COVID-19 Relief Program led to the purchase of 6,310 disposable isolation gowns for five hospitals across Malaysia, helping to protect close to 250 healthcare workers treating COVID-19 patients in isolation wards across the country.

Encouraging gratitude through creativity

In May of this year, AmMetLife supported JA Malaysia in launching the “Show Your Gratitude Competition,” a program encouraging primary school students to express their gratitude towards their care givers, front line service workers and essential workers. Through this initiative, students were instilled with a sense of social responsibility while giving them the opportunity to be creative and appreciative of their parents, care givers and those working to help keep Malaysia safe during the pandemic.

– Being a Responsible Company

At Starbucks we stand for being people positive, planet positive and profit positive, living our Mission and Values while working together as partners to build a different kind of company. This year, we continued our focus on three areas where we know we can have the most impact: leading in sustainability, creating meaningful opportunities, and strengthening our communities.

Expanding on our history in sustainability and progress in reducing the impact of our business on the environment, as of October 2020, all our stores in Malaysia have adopted the use of lightweight strawless lids for iced beverages, and have replaced our single use plastic straws with alternative material straws that is easier to recycle and compost.

From the very beginning, Starbucks has a long legacy of putting our partners (employees) first and creating a culture where everyone is welcomed. In November 2019, we opened our second Starbucks Signing Store in Burmah Road, Penang – the fourth of its kind in the world – which expands from our initial Signing Store in Bangsar Village II to provide employment and development opportunities for the Deaf community.

At Starbucks we take actions to strengthen our communities by listening, supporting, investing and uplifting in meaningful ways. This year, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Starbucks Malaysia worked with the local health districts around where our stores operate to donate more than 1,000 cups of coffee to frontliners which include hospital staff, police and also the non-profit organizations working directly with the underprivilege communities.

– Building better communities worldwide through impactful investments, innovative partnerships, employee engagement and thoughtful advocacy.

Through purposeful investments, employee engagement and thoughtful advocacy efforts over the last few decades, Boeing and its employees have supported many innovative partnerships and programs that help build better communities worldwide.

Boeing’s relationship with Malaysia dates back to 1947, with the acquisition of three 21-seater DC-3s by Malayan Airways Limited. This enabled the then small regional carrier to offer in-flight services for the first time.

Boeing deepened its partnership with Malaysia in 2005 when it first donated two ambulances and a multipurpose vehicle to the Malaysia Red Crescent Society in Penang. The vehicles were used extensively during the 2004 tsunami relief efforts and were instrumental in providing medical assistance during periods of severe flooding in Johor in 2006.

In 2005, Boeing donated Haemodialysis machines to eight district hospitals in Kedah to improve accessibility to affordable dialysis treatments for cancer patients.

Between 2006 and 2010, Boeing supported the Kanser Network Association in developing and sustaining its breast cancer education program in Malaysia. The grants provided to the organization helped develop its volunteer network and institutional resources, including translations of educational materials which was helpful for the large number of non-English speaking populace.

In 2019, Boeing partnered with the Network of Urban Rural Innovators (NURI) on several community recycling projects. The partnership was extended in 2020 and Boeing has since invested 95,000 USD in various recycling projects.

To date, Boeing has invested a total of 640,000 USD in community projects in Malaysia.
