On Monday, May 6, AMCHAM had a productive follow-up discussion with Dr. Rasyidah Binti Che Rosli and her team from the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM). We explored the updated e-invoicing guidelines and addressed specific concerns raised by AMCHAM members.

AMCHAM’s Human Capital Committee hosted a compelling briefing and panel discussion themed around “Future of Work: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Transformation, and Human Resource (HR),”. This insightful session featured expert speakers exploring AI’s transformative impact on Malaysia’s evolving workforce.
Mr. Siva Kumeren A. Narayanan, Group Chief Operating Officer of TalentCorp Malaysia, kicked off the session with a comprehensive presentation on Malaysia’s evolving work landscape, talent challenges, the changing role of HR, and the pivotal role of AI. He highlighted TalentCorp’s initiatives in addressing these critical issues.
Following the presentation, there was an engaging panel discussion with HR experts from various industries, including Mr. Monir Azzouzi, Managing Partner, FutureSparx; Dr. Shameem Farouk, Executive Vice President, Maybank: and Mr. Laurence Yap, Regional HR Advisor, Huacomm Malaysia; moderated by Mr. Shankar Nagalingam, Vice President of Human Resources, Lumileds. The panelists shared valuable insights and experiences on navigating digitally transformed, AI-driven work environments.

On May 3rd, AMCHAM hosted a dynamic roundtable focused on accelerating Malaysia’s role in global value chains around critical minerals. This collaborative discussion brought together industry stakeholders including Members of Parliament, representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP), the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and AMCHAM members.
Guest speakers from the U.S. offered insights into the critical minerals industry landscape, governance frameworks, and policy imperatives. Questions were lively and focused on the short and long-term strategies needed to propel Malaysia’s critical minerals sector forward in a manner that lays the groundwork for future development and is beneficial to the country in the long term.

The inaugural KL20 Summit 2024 (“the Summit”) was held in Kuala Lumpur on 22 and 23 Apil 2024. The Summit witnessed the launch of the KL20 Action Paper which sets out the roadmap to establish Malaysia as one of the top-20 global start-up hubs by 2030.
Among the speeches delivered at the Summit were the keynote addresses by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, and Rafizi Ramli, the Minister of Economy.
