A number of AMCHAM member companies made it to the top 10 list of Malaysia’s most attractive employers 2021 according to Human Resources (HR) solutions agency Randstad.
Factors contributing to their success include organizations’ financial health, reputation, job security and career progression. Member companies which made it to this list include Shell Malaysia, Intel Malaysia, Sime Darby Berhad, General Electric, HP Enterprise and IBM.

Knight Frank Malaysia has been formally appointed by Panasonic as their exclusive marketing agent to work on the sale of the property, following its plan to cease solar production operations in Malaysia.

Knight Frank Malaysia Executive Director of capital markets Allan Sim said the Panasonic facility presented an opportunity for manufacturers to immediately occupy and operate from the existing built facility, while having the flexibility to plan for future expansion.

After another successful entry of AMCHAM’s GATE Program on May 24th. We have a third session coming up on  Monday, June 14, featuring two panels: “HQ Doesn’t Understand My Market! Reporting Back to Country Headquarters” and “Dealing with Governments –  Understanding & Managing Uncertainty and its Impact on Priorities (Policy)”.

 The first session will feature a presentation and panel discussion with Hannah Nawi, Daphne Au, Regional Head of Regulatory & Government Affairs, Public Policy at AIG Asia Pacific, Dr. Laurie Underwood, Senior Consultant at Sino Associates Global Limited, and Nazhif Yusoff, Country Director at Vriens & Partners. The first session will focus on best practices when reporting back to corporate headquarters. 

The second session will feature Dr. Rebecca Fatima Sta Maria, Executive Director of APEC and Cash McCracken, Senior Director of Global Government Affairs at Seagate Technology. The second session will center around how companies understand and manage political instability while building their relationships with the government.

As an extension of the Government Affairs Training for Executive (GATE), AMCHAM hosted a 40 minute networking session “GATE 40: Forty Minutes with Steven Chan” on June 10, 2021. This session is designed to complement the main GATE program by allowing cohort members the chance to discuss any topics of interest among themselves as well as our guest speaker in an informal setting.

Steven started the session with a brief introduction. A lively discussion ensued focusing on engaging with stakeholders during the pandemic, having multiple touch points when engaging government and dealing with challenging/tough moments in the role by finding your passion.

Kuala Lumpur, 9 June 2021:  YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Senior Minister and Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI), presented at the Cabinet today on the impressive investment approvals for the first quarter of this year, despite the unprecedented economic challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The members of the Cabinet endorsed the Q1 2021 approved investment by responding optimistically that Malaysia will successfully weather the storm with every Malaysian’s steel effort in boosting the economy. Malaysia recorded a total of RM80.6 billion worth of approved investments in the manufacturing, services and primary sectors in the Q1 2021 a surge of 95.6 per cent from the same period last year (RM41.2 billion).

The manufacturing sector leads the investments for the Q1 2021, recording RM 58.8 billion, followed by the services sector at RM15.6 billion and the primary sector at RM6.2 billion.
