Vaccination of economic frontliners will be the country’s best proactive move to drive the economic recovery and ensure Malaysia retains its critical position in many global value chains. With today’s launch of the Public-Private Partnership Industrial COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (PIKAS) program, the ministries of MITI, MoH and MOSTI are working together with industry to deploy vaccines to the more active parts of the economy.
Two vaccination center (PPV) models offered under PIKAS were launched on 16 June 2021. In Selangor, a single company PPV vaccinated around 300 employees at the Texas Instruments Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. site in Ampang, Selangor; it was visited by Prime Minister Tan Sri Mahiaddin Yassin.
Additionally, the PPV at Bukit Jawi Golf Resort in Penang, involving 21 local and international companies in Batu Kawan, started its first day of vaccinations today as well. This PPV was initiated by a group of companies spearheaded by AMCHAM member, Micron Memory Malaysia.

The Program Immunisasi Industri COVID-19 Kerjasama Awam-Swasta (PIKAS) programme announced on 12 June 2021 will be launched today in Selangor to be witnessed by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin accompanied by Senior Minister and Minister of International Trade and Industry YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
Apart from Selangor, vaccination for the manufacturing sector will also be initiated in Penang and Johor simultaneously that will focus on critical manufacturing sub-sectors. These sub-sectors are critical during the lockdown as they are part of the supply chain of essential products and services including to support the smooth functioning of infrastructures such as the public health care system.
