Sunway Medical Centre (SMC), Sunway City has won the Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Best Practices Awards for their innovative and purposeful use of smart hospital technology with numerous outstanding achievements recorded.
Since Movement Control Order (MCO) period last year, the Sunway Medical Centre among earliest to adopt tele-consultation enables its patients to consult their health condition from home. It later launched the 24-hour Telemedicine command centre January this year following the rising demands in time of social distancing.
In March this year, this hospital has designated as COVID-19 vaccination centre during Phase 1 of the National Immunisation Programme, administering vaccines for medical frontliners across 12 private hospitals and will continue to serve the nation as a Pusat Pemberian Vaksin (PPV) in fulfilling the needs of the public in Phase 2 of the programme, especially the elderly.
IIB Ventures Sdn Bhd (IIB Ventures), a subsidiary of Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) and Malaysian Technology Development Corporation Sdn Bhd (MTDC), have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aiming to establish a Smart city in Johor, transforming Medini Iskandar Malaysia into a Digital Hub.
This collaboration aspires to develop Robotic Centre of Excellence (CoE), developing up to 200 technopreneurs focusses in robotic and the emerging industry 4R technology. It also outlines initiative to support activities which in line with MTDC’s centre of 9 pillars to offer local companies an affordable and impactful industry 4.0 solutions.

Senior Minister and Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI) YB Dato ‘Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali accompanied by Deputy Minister of MITI YB Datuk Lim Ban Hong paid a site visit to the Vaccination Center (PPV) under the Public-Private Partnership COVID-19 Industry Immunisation Program (PIKAS) in Pengerang, Johor today. A total of 5,123 workers are expected to be vaccinated at this location since its opening on 16June 2021.

As of 16 June 2021, more than 1,733 companies with a total of 280,820 employees have registered with the COVID-19 Public-Private Partnership Industry Immunization Program (PIKAS), of which 186 companies and a total of 139,851 employees are from industry players in Penang.
The PIKAS program is a responsive measure following suggestions from industry associations, chambers of commerce and Small and Medium Enterprises to help expedite vaccination of the people in order to achieve herd immunity in the community. PIKAS plays an important role in protecting workers from the risk of COVID-19 infection as their safety can ensure the economy can recover quickly and continue to be resilient.
