Johnson & Johnson in collaboration with SESO Malaysia, donated, packed, and distributed 650 Boxes of Kindness and 900 units of hygiene products to flood victims during the months of January and February 2022. A total of 650 families benefited from this donation.
Well done to Johnson & Johnson for contributing to the communities in need.

On 6 April, AMCHAM held its monthly Members’ Briefing for the first time in Penang. Members also had the option of attending virtually. Once again, Siobhan Das, CEO, AMCHAM, provided updates on the Chamber’s recent activities over the last few weeks as well as ongoing and upcoming initiatives.
From the U.S. Embassy side, Juha Salin Counselor For Economic Affairs, U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur Francis “Chip” Peters, Senior Commercial Officer, U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service joined this session. Juha provided updates from the U.S. side particularly on traveling to the U.S. now that borders have reopened. Chip elaborated on the Indo-Pacific Framework and what’s involved in it.

On 5 April, AMCHAM’s Human Capital Committee hosted a briefing session on the Employment Act Amendments and the Anti Sexual Harassment Bill 2021. This session featured Donovan Cheah, Partner, Donovan & Ho, and Li Meng, Han, Partner, Christopher & Lee Ong. Gayathri Ramakrishnan, Regional Head of Employee Relations, Amgen Inc served as the moderator.
Donovan went into details on the Employment Act amendments and its potential impacts on businesses, and what employers should do. He also addressed some of the frequently asked questions surrounding the amendments. Li Meng on the other hand, covered Anti-Sexual Harassment Bill, it’s effect, and also what are the existing laws covering sexual harassment cases, and what are the new changes on these.
It was a very informative session! A big thank you to both our guest speakers and the moderator in helping us navigate through the subject matter.
On 5 April, AMCHAM held an awareness session on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), the first entry in our ESG series. Our guest speakers, Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift, CEO of Bursa Malaysia Bhd, and Miranda Carr, Executive Director, ESG Research, Asia of MSCI (APAC), provided insight into the current global perspective of ESG as well as where Malaysia stands within ASEAN.
Both speakers elaborated on how ESG is measured, its impact on supply chains, the risk and opportunities present as companies transform their business to meet ESG compliance, and more. Attendees had the opportunity to raise their concerns and questions on the subject of ESG.
