AMCHAM members were treated to a private closed- door session with Finance Minister YB Lim Guan Eng today, October 15.  The 160 attendees were able to hear directly from the Minister about the Government’s vision for the upcoming year and its expression through the Budget for 2020.

He underscored the importance for collaboration with industry to help deliver on this vision and looked forward to working together to keep Malaysia a favored destination for American FDI.

Members were able to dive deeper into specific areas like digitisation and entrepreneurship during the Q&A session moderated by Anushia Soosapilai, partner at PwC and AMCHAM’s Treasurer.

Present at the lunch were Chamber’s Governors from AmMetLife, JPMorgan, GE, AIG, Coca-Cola. Her Excellency Kamala Lakhdhir, the U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia was also on hand to share in this important engagement.

At AMCHAM we look forward to working closely with the Minister’s staff and other stakeholders over the next few weeks to better understand the finer implantation details.

2020 COMMUNITY SOLUTIONS PROGRAM

The Community Solutions Program (CSP) is a year-long professional development program for people who are working to improve their communities by addressing issues related to the environment, tolerance and conflict resolution, transparency and accountability, and women and gender. For 2020–2021, up to 80 community activists will be selected to participate in the program, which includes a four-month fellowship in the US, Community Leadership Institute and community-based initiatives.

On 7 October 2019, AMCHAM was pleased to invite GSPARX to have a member-only briefing session in Penang.

GSPARX is a wholly owned subsidiary of TNB Renewables Sdn. Bhd., a company within Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) Group. GSPARX is committed to delivering the highest quality of workmanship and sustainable Solar Photovoltaic (PV) solutions for home and businesses.

During the briefing session, members were able to seek better understanding about GSPARX and its offers to industries to reduce their carbon footprints by adopting greener technology in their facilities via solar energy.
