In collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Malaysia, AMCHAM organized a presentation on the subject of Enabling the Next Generation of Women Leaders in the Economy, a program part of the American speaker series.

The presenter, Greta Schettler, founder and CEO of Equal Up Strategies, provided attendees with a very insightful and interactive session.

While focussing more on the private sector, Ms. Schettler emphasized on the importance of enabling women to rise in leadership roles in a realistic manner, taking into account  organizations’ internal and external strategies within an American and Asian context.

She encouraged the audience to participate and detail their experiences and initiatives taken by their organizations along with the challenges faced by women in working up the leadership pipeline and just coping with the job itself. She also provided ideas and solutions that could be taken to decrease barriers and encourage trying.

“The Key to Digital Transformation is Data Insight & Protection”

Cloud services have already become a core component of many businesses. When combined with mobility and speed, the results are fantastic. But along with the capabilities and convenience, comes the issue of security. These were some of the topics covered in this program at AMCHAM on October 24th, 2019.

A closed-door briefing was organized with a special presentation by Johnathan Anderson, Senior Director, Marketing & Products, Asia Pacific & Japan of McAfee. His presentation brought insight into the role and importance of Cloud services and also the security-based issues that had come into play because of it.

Attendees got to learn more about the nature of the security functions, problems and how to better secure the Cloud and mobile data. Mr. Anderson also covered the direction cybersecurity is heading towards, the initiatives that are being taken, and how to make Cloud the most trusted component for the business environment.

The accountancy profession is often perceived to be resilient. But in the current era where robotics, artificial intelligence, blockchain and various other new technologies and programs are continuously changing the job landscape, the fate of this profession becomes uncertain.

AMCHAM organized an in-depth conversation with Jeffrey C. Thomson, President and CEO of the Institute of Management Accountants on October 23, on the subject of the Changing Role of the CFO. The session dove into the state of the profession, the current format as opposed to the traditional one, how it is being transformed by the digital age and where the human component fits in. Mr. Thomson also provided attendees with possible future scenarios and strategies to adapt to the changing times.

Special thanks to Microsoft for hosting us, and also a very big thank you to Mr. Jeffrey C. Thomson for a very insightful session.
