Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on 19 June 2025 said that Putrajaya’s ongoing negotiations with Washington over unilateral tariffs imposed by former US President Donald Trump are “going excellent”.

He said two ministers — Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz and Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan — held talks with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick yesterday to advance the tariff negotiations.

Cathay Pacific has officially launched non-stop flights between Hong Kong and Munich, marking their first direct connection to the vibrant Bavarian capital. This milestone follows the successful launch of their seasonal Rome service on 5 June and comes just ahead of their return to Brussels on 3 August—further strengthening their presence in Europe.

As part of the Cathay Group, together with their sister airline HK Express, they now serve 100 passenger destinations worldwide, offering your customers greater choice and connectivity.

In 2025, they expanded their combined network with 18 new destinations, including this month’s additions: Rome, Munich, Cheongju, Daegu—and soon, Miyako (Shimojishima).

The Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, Lavinia Lau, shared:

“We’re thrilled to welcome Munich into our global network. This new route provides direct access to one of Europe’s key economic and cultural hubs, while reinforcing Hong Kong’s position as a leading international aviation gateway. As we continue to grow, we remain committed to delivering more destinations and seamless travel experiences for our customers.”

Now flying four times weekly, the Munich service is operated by their modern Airbus A350-900, offering fully flat beds in Business, enhanced comfort in Premium Economy, and thoughtfully designed seating in Economy.

This summer, they will be operating nearly 100 return flights per week to 12 European cities, including London, Paris, Frankfurt, Zurich, Milan, Madrid, and more.

Additionally, Cathay Cargo will operate seven weekly freighter services to and from Europe, further enhancing our global reach.

The long-awaited reforms to the Sabah Labour Ordinance and the Sarawak Labour Ordinance introduced under the Labour Ordinance of Sabah (Amendment) Act 2025 and the Labour Ordinance of Sarawak (Amendment) Act 2025 respectively, came into force on 1 May 2025, with the exception of Part IVA of both Ordinances, which specifically addresses the minimum standards for workers’ housing, accommodation and facilities.
