Singapore, March 11, 2024 — FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, will showcase its tailored transportation solutions for the healthcare sector at the BioLogistics World Asia 2024 in Singapore from 19th -21st March.
The healthcare industry, including clinical research, pharmaceuticals and biotech, diagnostics and medical equipment and supplies, has many unique and highly regulated logistics needs tied to the sensitivity of shipments. Requirements range from ensuring temperature integrity, speed of delivery, white glove support and contingency planning.
For decades, FedEx has been using its cold chain network and dedicated healthcare team to ship vaccines, biologics, and medical aid all around the world. FedEx uses its four Life Science Centers in the region including South Korea, Japan, Singapore and Mumbai and its fleet of more than 680 aircraft and 200,000 vehicles to move healthcare shipments using temperature-controlled solutions from -150oC to +25oC and real-time monitoring capabilities.
FedEx customized solutions for the industry comply with trade and regulatory requirements including FedEx® Clinical Care, an end-to-end solution for time and temperature sensitive bio-samples, kits, and investigation medicinal products. FedEx package tracking technology includes FedEx SenseAware which monitors multiple parameters in real time to ensure shipment integrity.
BioLogistics World Asia organized by IMAPAC, is a premier conference for biologics and logistics in the Asia Pacific region to demonstrate best practices in cold chain management. FedEx Healthcare team members will also be participating in the plenary sessions and will deliver a keynote speech on the region’s rapidly evolving healthcare needs.
On Monday, 11 March, AMCHAM released the Economic Impact Survey (EIS) 2022/23 at the AMCHAM Executive Office. The EIS 2022/23 reaffirms the impact of U.S. companies in Malaysia and the investments they have made over the many decades that they have been in the country.
Eighty-one responding member companies provided a snapshot of how deeply committed American companies are to developing local talent and incorporating local businesses into their ecosystems. These 81 reported employing almost 150,000 individuals, almost 90% of whom are Malaysians.
AMCHAM’s Chairman Antony Lee’s opening remarks highlighted the value brought by American investments and the role that this plays in driving economic growth and fostering human capital development.
After the detailed results delivered by AMCHAM’s CEO Siobhan Das, she was joined by Antony Lee and Kian-Ming Ong, Program Director of Philosophy Politics & Economics, Taylor’s University, for a short discussion and to take questions from the press.
The session, conducted in a hybrid fashion, both in-person and virtual, allowed members across the country to dial in and participate in learning how their efforts support and deliver a stronger Malaysia that competes globally.

The Economic Impact Survey (EIS) is an undertaking by the American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) with the purpose of quantifying its members’ contributions to the Malaysian economy. It incorporates a snapshot of challenges and opportunities faced in the post-pandemic era. Similar to previous editions (2018/19 & 2020/21), the 2022/23 survey includes multiple economic sectors represented within the AMCHAM membership for both manufacturing and services, with callouts for the electrical and electronics (E&E) sector, banking, insurance, and agribusiness, extraction & energy.
81 AMCHAM member companies completed this year’s survey. This survey is not exhaustive of the total financial impact of all American investment in Malaysia and acts as estimated contributions of prominent AMCHAM member companies.

On Thursday night, 7 March, AMCHAM hosted the Super Interchamber Networking at George and Dragon Cafe, Johor. The event is a collaboration between seven business chambers, which are AMCHAM, the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MGCC), Malaysian Dutch Business Council (MDBC), Malaysian French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCI France Malaysia), Malaysia Australia Business Council (MABC), Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (CanCham) and British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (BMCC).
The networking session was a joint effort to strengthen relationships with our Johor members as well as members from the other Chambers over fantastic food and drinks.

On Thursday, 7 March, AMCHAM had the opportunity to meet with United Parcel Service (M) Sdn. Bhd. (UPS) at the AMCHAM Executive Office.
The conversation mainly revolved around supply chain resilience and ways on contributing and being more collaborative within Malaysia.

The International School of Kuala Lumpur’s (ISKL) 44th Annual Southeast Asia (SEA) Forensics and Debate Tournament was held at its campus in Ampang Hilir from January 25 to 27, 2024.
Initiated by ISKL in 1979 to encourage public speaking and debate skills, the tournament is one of the longest-running traditions at ISKL. It provides an excellent opportunity for students to improve their public speaking and performance skills while promoting and strengthening intercultural connections with their peers.

This year, the tournament saw the participation of students from eight schools, including government, private, and international schools, competing in seven categories. 28 High School students from ISKL and 119 students from participating schools took part, including the International School of Kuantan, SMK Convent Bukit Nanas, St John’s Institution, Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar, SMK St Mary, SMK Jalan Empat, Kolej Yayasan UEM, and the Shanghai American School.
Throughout the 3-day tournament, students presented more than 250 speeches and performances. Along with other schools that participated, 40 refugee students from STEM Savers Save School community partnership club were invited to attend the Duet Acting finals.
Congratulations to all the participants involved. This event is a testament to the strength of ISKL’s partnerships with schools around Southeast Asia.
