Power Quality Meeting with TNB

February 26, 2015

Putrajaya – On 26 February 2015, members of AMCHAM’s Power Quality group, which includes members of the Malaysian Electrical and Electronics (E&E) industry and representatives of TNB, met Palm Garden Hotel IOI Resort to discuss on the updates and mitigation plans of Power Quality issues.

Minutes from the previous meeting was presented which then followed through with updates from TNB on voltage sag incidents from November 2014 up until February 2015. Major causes are lightning, 3rd party encroachment and customers’ internal faults. Members of TNB gave further updates on action plans to reduce distribution voltage sags for WPKL and Selangor precedent from previous maintenance activities.

TNB conducted a case by case study for each AMCHAM Power Quality member and sought to provide more pro-active solutions for each company through engaging in more mitigation works as well as continuing working towards minimizing the impact of faulty events.
To integrate best practices, and actively addressing technical issues, policies and plausible preventive measures, AMCHAM’s Power Quality Group is an initiative of AMCHAM that provides proximity and direct contact to upper management of TNB.
