Final GST Briefing by Ministry of Finance and Royal Malaysian Customs

Kuala Lumpur – More than 70 representatives attended the Final Briefing on GST by the Ministry of Finance & Royal Malaysian Customs on 10 March 2015. Tuan Mohammad Sabri Bin Saad shared an overview of the final transition into GST. Mr. M.A. Sivanesan, Deputy Under Secretary, Tax Division from the Ministry of Finance further briefed the guests on the overall GST Progress, Implementation & Readiness – Pre April 1.

In addition to Malaysian government officials, representatives from the private sector contributed significantly to the overall dialogue on GST. Yvonne Beh from Wong & Partners shared on the legal aspects of GST while Vinay P. Nichani from EY briefed audience on the recent developments on transfer pricing compliance and transfer pricing audits adopted by the Inland Revenue Board (IRB). The briefing concluded with a panel discussion on GST implementation on healthcare, consumer goods and Anti-Profiteering Act with panelist representatives from EY, Lee Hishamuddin Allen & Gledhill, KPMG Tax Services, Royal Malaysian Customs, and the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives, and Consumerism.
