Trump Confirms 50% Tariff On Copper Imports Effective Aug 1
US President Donald Trump has confirmed that a 50% tariff on copper imports will come into force on Aug 1, intensifying concerns among industries reliant on the metal, from automotive to construction and household appliances.
The move, part of Trump’s broader effort to promote domestic mining and metal processing, follows earlier hikes on steel and aluminium imports. The White House is also finalising sectoral and country-specific tariffs involving dozens of key trading partners, all scheduled to take effect on the same day.
