Kuala Lumpur, May 30, 2024 – Herbalife Family Foundation (HFF), a non-profit organisation and philanthropic arm of the premier health and wellness company, Herbalife, recently strengthened its commitment to providing good nutrition and nutrition education to children in underserved communities. In its fifth year of partnership with Yayasan Chow Kit (YCK) under the Casa Herbalife Program, HFF continued its support by providing essential food aid for up to 100 families in need.
To-date, HFF has contributed approximately RM 780,000 to YCK, providing nutrition necessities to more than 500 children over the course of five years.
Present at the food aid distribution event held at KL Krash Pad, Steven Chin, Senior Director/General Manager, Herbalife Malaysia and Singapore, said, “Our longstanding relationship with YCK is integral to HFF’s broader vision of promoting nutrition literacy within underprivileged communities, paving the way for a brighter and healthier future for these communities. Through this partnership, we gain valuable insights into the challenges faced by the children, enabling us to enhance our approach for fostering healthier lifestyles among them.”
YCK currently serves approximately 150 children, offering shelter and a safe space for both Malaysian and immigrant youth in the Chow Kit area. Since its inception in 2010, YCK has been dedicated to shielding children from local social ills and providing them with much-needed afterschool care and education, as a large demographic of people in the area are socioeconomically disadvantaged and do not have access to such facilities.
Ananti Rajasingam, Chief Executive Officer of YCK said, “Thanks to Herbalife Family Foundation’s contributions, the children have not only demonstrated improved concentration and increased engagement in school but have also shown remarkable improvements in their academic performance. Our goal is to establish a strong nutritional foundation from early childhood and with the help of HFF, we can do just that.”
HFF celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, marking three decades of dedicated philanthropic efforts to support local communities. In 2024, HFF will continue giving back to disadvantaged children. It has allocated approximately RM 820,000 towards the Casa Herbalife Program partners in Malaysia, with grants to be provided to five charitable organisations, namely, The Good Samaritan Home, Hope Mission Welfare Society, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Amitabha Malaysia, Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Yatim Miskin Rukaiyah, and YCK, underscoring HFF’s dedication to championing nutrition literacy while supporting underserved communities.
Since 2006, Herbalife has contributed a total of RM 4.09 million to seven different NGOs through the Casa Herbalife Program in Malaysia.
