Singapore, October 22, 2024 – Federal Express Corporation, one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, has appointed Bianca Wong as the new Regional Vice President for Southeast Asia. Bianca, previously Vice President of Human Resources for Asia Pacific, will now helm the operational strategies in one of the company’s fastest-growing markets. She succeeds Audrey Cheong, who assumed the role of Vice President for FedEx China in September 2024.
With over 22 years of extensive experience in human resources and business partnership roles across different industries, Bianca has demonstrated a strong track record of strategic leadership and operational excellence. In her new role, Bianca will lead the overall planning and implementation of corporate strategies and operations to drive business transformation and will manage a team of more than 4,000 team members across markets and territories in the region.

On 18 October, AMCHAM held an insightful, private briefing session with Hans Vriens, founder and managing partner of Vriens & Partners, focusing on the evolving geopolitical landscape and government relations in Southeast Asia.
During the session, Hans offered insightful perspectives on the ongoing US-China tensions, regional competition, and the evolving geopolitical landscape. He provided valuable guidance on how multinational companies (MNCs) should navigate government relations in the region amidst these complex dynamics.

On 17 October, AMCHAM held the next entry in our AMCHAM Unplugged: Leadership for Tomorrow series, courtesy of the Young Professionals Committee. This series is designed to provide young professionals with the opportunity to engage directly with top industry leaders in a more informal setting.
We were honored to host Lisa Bruner, Country President of ConocoPhillips Malaysia, for this session. Lisa shared her journey to leadership, the challenges she faced, and her most valuable career insights. The event provided an open forum where attendees could seek advice, ask career-related questions, and gain wisdom from her extensive experience.

On 16 October, AMCHAM hosted a Members’ Briefing at Botanica+Co, Bangsar South, aimed at keeping our members informed on the latest developments from AMCHAM and updates from the U.S. Embassy. This session featured a special guest speaker, Steven Okun, Senior Advisor at McLarty Associates and CEO of APAC Advisors, who provided an expert analysis of the upcoming U.S. elections and its potential impact on the U.S. business community in Asia.
AMCHAM’s CEO, Dato’ Siobhan Das, shared key updates on recent high-level dialogues, upcoming events, and ongoing activities at the Chamber. Dave Williams, Economic Counsellor, and Francis “Chip” Peters, Senior Commercial Officer from the U.S. Embassy, also shared valuable U.S. updates with our members.
Steven Okun’s session delved into the key issues shaping the U.S. Presidential election, voter sentiments, and the potential business implications depending on the outcome. Our members had the chance to engage in a dynamic discussion, addressing their concerns and questions.
