Founded in 1951, The UPS Foundation leads UPS’s global citizenship efforts and philanthropy. The UPS Foundation’s philanthropic approach centers on four focus areas: Health & Humanitarian Relief, Equity & Economic Empowerment, Local Community Engagement, and Planet Protection. We are committed to:

  • Improving the wellbeing of 1 billion lives by 2040

  • Serving 30 million global volunteer hours by 2030
  • Planting 50 million trees by 2030

To UPS, giving means more than writing a check. It means combining employees’ skills, passion and time with the company’s logistics expertise, transportation assets, and charitable donations to make a measurable difference in society. The UPS Foundation invests in our global communities with cash grants, in-kind support and passionate volunteers.

In Malaysia, funding was given to non-profit organisations like Special Olympics and MyKasih Foundation to support disability inclusion, environmental conservation, and disaster relief programmes. UPS employees in Malaysia also actively volunteered in their communities – including revitalising an indigenous school garden and sprucing up an old folks’ home.

Venture believes that good corporate citizenship requires ongoing commitment to the communities in which we operate. Corporate giving and employee volunteerism for community development are a key focus of our overall CSR strategy.

At Venture, we are committed to the communities we operate in. Having operated in various sites in Malaysia for more than 30 years, Venture has made substantial contributions to the local communities.

In 2021 and 2022, our active participation in the Jamin Kerja and Penjamin Kerjaya programmes led to over 2,000 job placements within the Venture Group and earned us the prestigious “Employer Care Award” by PERKESO KL in 2022 and by PERKESO Johor in 2022 and 2023.

Our commitment to the community extends beyond the workplace. Venture employees actively engage in various initiatives such as volunteering at the Sherun Old Folks Home in Johor where essential items such as diapers and groceries were donated, and red packets distributed during Chinese New Year. In another initiative, our employees prepared and distributed 6,000 packs of Bubur Lambuk to the Kangkar Tebrau community during Ramadan. Additionally, we organised an environmental clean-up which saw more than 250 employees cleaning the surrounding industrial area, resulting in the collection and segregation of 757 kg of trash.

We also partnered with Penang General Hospital and organised an on-site blood donative drive. Close to 100 employees from our Penang site volunteered as blood donors, which raised awareness on the importance of blood donation and how it saves lives. In addition, 50 employees visited Pusat Jagaan Warga Emas Old Folks’ Home and Pusat Jagaan Nasyiatul Aishah Orphanage Home, distributing non-perishable food items.

The Venture Group will continue to strengthen our CSR initiatives and encourage employee participation, giving back to the communities in which we operate.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, January 23, 2025 — Demonstrating unwavering commitment to community support, over 800 team members from Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, dedicated more than 1,000 volunteer hours to collect and donate more than 3,600 kilograms (almost 8,000 pounds) of essential supplies for those in need. These efforts have benefited over 1,650 individuals, including young children, the elderly, and underserved groups, through collaboration with more than 20 non-profit organizations (NGOs).

In Malaysia, FedEx collaborated with Shelter Home for Children, bringing joy to the children over the holiday season. Seventeen FedEx team members helped to collect more than 107 kilograms of items, including packaged food, toys, and daily necessities such as soap, dishwashing liquid, toothpaste, and shampoo. These essential items were delivered to the shelter to support both children and marginalized communities.

These donations of supplies were made as part of the annual FedEx Cares Purple Tote Campaign which ran between October – December 31, 2024, to empower FedEx team members to see their impact and support the NGOs they value most in their local communities. FedEx volunteers from 11 markets in the region including Malaysia, Australia, China, Japan, New Zealand, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam took part in the program.

This year, FedEx team members once again united across the region, forming teams of various sizes. The team members ensured the contributions made a meaningful difference and included supporting children with leukaemia, providing educational supplies, and assisting families and individuals in need.  Each team worked with their chosen charities, gathering essential items such as packaged food, books, toys, winter clothing, and hygiene kits. These donations were delivered in FedEx Cares purple tote bags, symbolizing care, and compassion. Beneficiaries – including young children, the elderly, and underserved groups – received these heartfelt donations from FedEx team members.

Kawal Preet, President of FedEx Asia Pacific, shared her enthusiasm for the campaign’s success: “At FedEx, we know that building real connections and making a difference in our communities is at the heart of what we do. The FedEx Cares Purple Tote Campaign is a powerful reminder of how much we can achieve when we come together to help others. It makes me incredibly proud to see our team members step up and support those in need – this reflects the values of ‘teamwork’ and “’taking care of each other’ that shape who we are. Showing up for our communities where we live, and work is part of our contribution towards positive change across the region.”

Tien Long Woon, managing director of FedEx Malaysia added, “We are committed to making a meaningful impact by addressing the challenges faced by our local communities. With rising costs of living and limited access to essential resources for many, initiatives like these enable us to provide much-needed support to those in need. It is inspiring to see our team members come together to help these children, reflecting our shared purpose of creating opportunities and fostering positive change.”

As part of FedEx Cares, team members around the globe are encouraged to come together to ‘Drive forward. Give back’ by volunteering and participating in countless acts of service throughout the year. Every year, FedEx Cares promotes charitable giving, employee volunteer efforts, and in-kind shipping services that help support the communities the company serves. In FY24, FedEx contributed $55 million [1] in total charitable contributions around the world focussing on programs supporting Delivering for Good, Sustainable Logistics, and Global Entrepreneurship. PepsiCo, a global leader in convenient foods and beverages, is inviting applications for the third edition of its Greenhouse Accelerator Program (GHAC) in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. Designed to foster sustainable innovation, this mentorship-based, pilot-oriented initiative aims to support startups developing solutions in circular economy, climate action, and sustainable agriculture.

Empowering Sustainability in APAC

As a leading incubator for sustainability-focused startups in the region, GHAC underscores PepsiCo’s commitment to advancing progress in critical areas such as reducing environmental impact, promoting renewable energy, and enhancing sustainable farming practices. With 15 pilot projects already initiated across the 2023 and 2024 cohorts, the program continues to test and scale solutions that can drive meaningful environmental and business change.

According to recent data, 39% of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in APAC struggle to align environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) efforts with internal business growth objectives. PepsiCo’s GHAC directly addresses this gap by equipping SMEs with expert guidance and resources to achieve sustainable growth while aligning with broader ESG goals.

A Comprehensive Support System

The GHAC offers selected finalists an equity-free grant of US$20,000, with the winning startup receiving an additional US$100,000 to further develop and scale their solution. Beyond funding, startups gain access to a tailored mentorship program led by PepsiCo executives and business accelerator experts. This collaboration helps participants navigate challenges, refine their innovations, and explore pilot opportunities within PepsiCo’s operations.

In addition, startups will have the opportunity to pitch their innovations to PepsiCo executives, venture capitalists, and investors at a live event in Shanghai. The event also provides a platform to foster partnerships and potential pilot implementations, further integrating promising solutions into PepsiCo’s sustainability journey.

The program’s track record reflects its success in empowering startups to scale innovations for a sustainable future. Over the past two years, GHAC has launched 15 startup pilots across APAC and engaged with 95 venture capital firms and institutions, creating a robust sustainability ecosystem that benefits both entrepreneurs and PepsiCo.

Strategic Partnerships and Ecosystem Building

This year’s GHAC edition has expanded its ecosystem with partnerships involving three venture capital funds: PTTGC, Twynam, and Circulate Capital. PepsiCo’s longstanding collaborations with bottling partners Suntory PepsiCo Beverage Thailand (SPBT) and Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage (SPVB) also continue to play a pivotal role in supporting startups across Thailand and Vietnam.

Through these partnerships, the program offers participants access to decades of industry expertise, a strong partner network, and invaluable insights to refine solutions and shape pilot opportunities. These resources are critical in addressing the growing importance of sustainability for investors, consumers, and employees alike.

Success stories: Alterno and Takachar’s Journeys

Alterno, the winner of the 2024 GHAC, exemplifies the program’s impact. The startup is pioneering Asia’s first low-cost thermal energy storage solution for renewable energy through its innovative sand battery technology. This breakthrough offers a lower-emission alternative to traditional snack drying methods, showcasing the potential for reduced energy costs and emissions while contributing to PepsiCo’s sustainability goals.

Takachar, one of the finalists selected from the Philippines in 2024 , has developed a revolutionary portable biomass conversion technology. This innovation allows rural communities to transform agricultural waste into marketable products such as biochar, reducing pollution while creating new revenue streams. Takachar’s solution has the potential to significantly mitigate environmental impact while driving economic benefits for farmers and communities.

An Opportunity to Transform

Accelerator programs like GHAC play a crucial role in helping entrepreneurs meet sustainability expectations and remain competitive. By collaborating directly with PepsiCo, participants gain access to an unparalleled support system that fosters innovation and accelerates growth.

Applications for the PepsiCo Greenhouse Accelerator 2025 APAC Sustainability Edition are now open. Interested startups can apply by visiting greenhouseaccelerator.com/apac/ or PepsiCo’s LinkedIn page at linkedin.com/company/pepsico.
