A new PwC pulse survey shows how finance leaders plan to react to COVID-19 — and what impacts they expect to see. Fifty leaders from a cross-section of industries weighed in from the US and Mexico during the week of March 9. The survey will continue so we can track changing sentiments and priorities.
The potential for the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak to lead to a global economic downturn is the top concern for finance leaders based in the US and Mexico, according to PwC’s survey. That concern is followed by worries that consumer confidence, financial operations and workforce productivity will be adversely impacted as the unprecedented measures to slow the spread of the virus continue.

Good health and well-being (UNSDG #3) are part of Herbalife Nutrition DNA. As a global nutrition company, we are providing access to good nutrition to communities around the world and an economic opportunity to those interested in improving their lives since 1980.
We have been on a mission to improve the nutritional habits of the world. At the grassroot level, our trained independent distributors provide one-on-one coaching and a supportive community that inspires customers to embrace a healthier, more active lifestyle. Through our wide network of distributors, we have partnered governments and non-governmental organizations to help disseminate nutrition information, as well as other important health and wellness information.
Herbalife Nutrition plays an active role in promoting good health and well-being to everyone. Our Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Board (NAB), made up of leading experts from around the world in the fields of nutrition and health, travelled extensively to countries where we operate in to educate and train the independent distributors. In Malaysia, we have at least two nutrition trainings a year conducted by these leading experts.
These NAB members also impart their knowledge on good nutrition, getting regular physical activity and leading a healthy lifestyle to the public through media and stakeholders’ engagements.
In addition to the NAB, our Herbalife Nutrition employees – Dr Kent Bradley, Vice President, Medical Affairs and Nutrition Education; Susan Bowerman, Senior Director, Worldwide Nutrition Education and Training; to name a few, also propagate the same purpose. They were also featured in numerous articles in both print and digital media in Malaysia.
The Company offers resources pertaining good health and well-being through our websites iamherbalifenutrition.com and discovergoodnutrition.com and they are accessible to all.
Through our Herbalife Nutrition Foundation (HNF), we provide grants to charitable organizations under its Casa Herbalife Nutrition Program that provides children with the nourishment, care, and nutrition education they need to reach their full potential. HNF is a global non-profit foundation dedicated to improving the lives of children around the world where every child has equal access to healthy nutrition. Today, we provide millions of dollars to fund more than 170 Casa Herbalife Nutrition partners in more than 61 countries bringing critical nutrition and nutrition education to nearly 120,000 children.
Herbalife Nutrition Malaysia has supported five local non-governmental organizations since 2006, having contributed about USD425,000 towards elevating the lives of children in need. Currently, we are proud to be working with four Casa Herbalife Nutrition partners – Good Samaritan Home (Klang, Selangor); Amitabha Charity Orphanage (Johor Bahru, Johor); Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Yatim/ Miskin Rukaiyah (Kajang, Selangor); and Yayasan Chow Kit (Kuala Lumpur) to care for the nutrition needs of close to 200 children and 50 urban poor families with children.

As Malaysia’s Community Protection Champion, Gibraltar BSN Life Berhad’s CSR strategy is driven by its mission to Protect Dreams. Under its Community Outreach pillar, the life insurer aims to make an impact on the quality of life and well-being of people in the B40 segment through programmes that encourage healthy lifestyles and improve long-term health outcomes.
Headquartered in KL Eco City Bangsar, Gibraltar BSN decided to adopt the community living in the neighbouring Abdullah Hukum low-cost apartments. Over the next three years, Gibraltar BSN will upgrade the Apartments’ recreational grounds to become a community park, outfitting the area with a small jogging track, outdoor exercise machines and a reflexology path. This Community Outreach programme is also in line with the Federal Territories Ministry’s programme that aims to improve living conditions in People’s Housing Project (PPR) and Public Housing (PA) in Kuala Lumpur.
Gibraltar BSN’s first engagement with the community took place on 14 December 2019. Its employees, fondly known as Rockerz, came together to paint the Apartments’ badminton and basketball courts, and funded the refurbishment of the children’s 10-year old rusty playground.
Susan Ong, Chief Marketing Officer of Gibraltar BSN said, “Malaysia currently has the highest rate of obesity amongst our Asian neighbours and our daily physical activity rate is also at an alarming low. We hope that the activation of our Community Outreach programme here will help increase the daily physical activity of the residents of the Abdullah Hukum Apartments, ultimately encouraging them to lead a healthier lifestyle and improving their long-term health outcome.”
