Microsoft Malaysia: Empowering socio-economic development with technology

Our vision at Microsoft is to help every person and organization on the planet achieve more. This is a vision we pursue tirelessly, making sure nobody is left behind as we head into the digital future.

Our commitment extends to every corner of the globe, ranging from issues such as accessibility, environmental sustainability, and talent growth. In Malaysia, we demonstrated our commitment through the launch of DELIMA, or ‘Digital Educational Learning Initiative Malaysia’.

Stemming from a long-standing partnership with the government and industry players, this one-stop digital learning platform allows educators and students nationwide to access an array of digital productivity tools, providing much needed support for remote learning measures and accelerating the digital transformation of the nation’s education system.

Similarly, the She Builds Peace campaign was launched earlier this year to celebrate female empowerment and to reflect on the courage and commitment of women Peacebuilders. Part of a global initiative, the campaign encouraged Malaysian women to participate in peacebuilding efforts locally and internationally, showcasing inspirational examples of women who have succeeded in creating sustainable peace in countries who had been stricken with conflict.

Microsoft’s commitment also extends to those who are differently abled, as we continue to stride towards a more inclusive world using new technologies to level the playing field for everyone. In 2019, Microsoft hosted its first-ever “AI for Accessibility hackathon” in Malaysia, which saw teams of IT professionals, university students and young developers working side-by-side with universities, international organizations, start-ups and non-profit organizations to tackle more than 23 different problem statements. Held in collaboration with the Malaysia Federation of the Deaf (MFD), the hackathon was an inspiring reflection of the good that come from technology – motivating us to continue doing what we do, to help the world achieve more.
