Micron Semiconductor Malaysia

– Helping people in need

Micron Malaysia makes a difference to the vulnerable communities in Malaysia

Over the course of the Movement Control Order (MCO), Micron Malaysia joined hands with AMCHAM for the COVID-19 initiative to support the front liners and the local communities in need.

The contribution is funded by the US$600,000 (2.6 million ringgit) donation that Micron pledged to Malaysia in March, as part of the company’s larger US$10 million COVID-19 Relief Fund.

Together with AMCHAM, Micron Malaysia coordinated the disbursements of the funds through a selected group of organizations, including Rotary Club of Muar, Rotary Club of Sg Petani, Rotary Club of Butterworth, Accelerate Global, EPIC Homes, School for the Mentally Retarded Children (Penang) and Refuge for the Refugees.

These organizations directly impact the B40, refugees, Orang Asli and the stateless communities – helping them to ease the burden caused by the pandemic.

Other initiatives included providing medical and personal protective equipment, such as ventilators, jumpsuits, face masks, sanitizers and gloves to several local government and beneficiary hospitals with critical needs, and distributing financial aid and additional support through food and household items, masks and sanitizers to children’s charities and homes for the elderly.

All in all, over three hundred families in need, 11 charitable homes, four hospitals and over 150 schools have been positively touched by Micron during the COVID-19 pandemic. To date, Micron team members have volunteered more than 277 hours (34.5 total working days) to the COVID-19 relief efforts in Malaysia.
