Malaysia – U.S. Smart Cities Symposium
Malaysia – U.S. Smart Cities Symposium
The American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) and the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, brought together business leaders, policymakers from both Malaysian and U.S. government, and Smart City representatives from Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Selangor, Cyberjaya and Melaka for the Malaysia – U.S. Smart Cities Symposium 2019 held this morning at the Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
The event was honored by the presence of H.E. Kamala Shirin Lakhdir, the U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia and YBrs. En. Al-Ishal Bin Ishak, Chairman at Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), and Mr. Eric Jones, Chief of Staff of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC).
Attendees got to learn about the nature of Smart Cities in greater detail – the systems, the infrastructure, policies, and also the key challenges and opportunities they bring. They also got to learn about the development of the Smart Cities currently in Malaysia. Being a two-way discussion, members who attended were able to ask questions and gain clarity on critical matters such as cybersecurity and sustainability.
AMCHAM would like to take this opportunity to thank both our sponsors Microsoft and Cisco for their generous contribution. AMCHAM would also like to thank the team involved in putting this event together from the U.S. Embassy and we look forward to future collaborations. Last but not least, thank you to all our speakers and guests for making this event a success.
