We are looking: Events Manager

The Opportunity at the American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) is for a person who will love to deliver content rich programs for our members to network, learn, share and discuss matters associated with U.S. business in Malaysia.

The Job

  • To manage all aspects of events: P&L, logistics, budgets, coordination of sponsorship, invitations, marketing, speaker sourcing and invitations, runs-of-show, talking points, billings and post-event follow up. 
  • To manage the annual calendar of programs and deliver high quality, content rich events that expresses the Chamber’s objectives
  • To promote information and knowledge exchange through various events that meet member’s needs
  • Establish and maintain high quality relationships with key stakeholders – partners and sponsors
  • Establish standard procedures for events and ensure processes are communicated internally 
  • Maintain and build a comprehensive database of industry contacts, vendors, and venues
  • Maintain and expand relationship with venue and external service providers
  • Review and manage contracts agreed to by management
  • Facilitate and support adoption of virtual platforms, tools and services that enhance the Chamber’s content portfolio 
  • Manage related sponsorships and support new sponsorships
  • Oversee event timelines, planning and overall execution

The Person

  • Energetic, resourceful and a self-starter
  • At least 5-7 years of proven ability in event management and stakeholder management 
  • Team player who is able to work well with wide variety of people and has the ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Flexible and possess a “can do” approach; results driven and good communications skills
  • Relevant business degree or equivalent qualification
  • High proficiency in the English language is required
