Chamber Associate Program

The Chamber Associate program at AMCHAM Malaysia invites fresh graduates to explore their skills in a challenging and purpose-driven environment. Spend a year steeped in various areas within the Chamber and learn about events, communications, membership development, building communities, policy development, and regulatory matters impacting business in Malaysia for foreign investors. Three candidates are selected across the year.

These positions are full-time, in-office, and may have some travel within Malaysia.

 

Chamber Associates – Job Description

Events

  • Monitor and respond to events email

  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, partners and members as well as internal teams to conceptualize, plan, and execute events that meet the objectives and requirements of each project.

  • Create event agendas, schedules, and program flow that engage attendees and deliver on the event’s purpose and goals.

  • Support all logistical aspects of events, including venue selection, setup, transportation, audio/visual equipment, name badge printing, registration

  • Maintain regular communication with stakeholders (includes members & sponsors) to update them on event progress, ensure their needs are met, and their branding and messaging are appropriately incorporated into events.

  • Conduct thorough post-event evaluations, gathering feedback from stakeholders, attendees, and team members to assess event success and identify areas for improvement.

  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure that events align with the Chamber’s broader goals and initiatives.

Membership

  • Monitor and respond to membership email

  • Keep up with regular communication with all members

  • Support on annual membership directory, renewals and general correspondence

  • Update and maintain accurate membership records on the membership live list, and CRM system (Glue Up) – includes member contact information, and updated company logo

  • Collaborate with Events Team to involve members in Chamber events and activities

Communication & Public Affairs

  • Craft and edit clear and impactful social media and press releases that effectively communicate the value proposition of Chamber events/benefits to members

  • Design visuals for events, marketing, and other departments

  • Assist in managing and optimizing digital marketing efforts, including social media marketing

  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure that marketing and comms support align with the Chamber’s broader goals and initiatives.

Government Relations (GR)

  • Monitor and respond to Government Relations email

  • Draft letters and invites to Ministers, government and external stakeholders

  • Organize events, meetings, forums and roundtable discussions for Committees that facilitate dialogue between chamber members and government officials.

  • Communicate with members to gather input on key policy issues and help coordinate their participation in advocacy initiatives.

  • Record and document thorough and accurate meeting notes in a timely manner

  • Build relationships and maintain regular communication with government representatives and the embassy by attending meetings and hearings to represent the Chamber’s interests.

  • Conduct polls and in-depth research on policy issues, industry trends, and government initiatives to inform the Chamber’s advocacy strategies.

  • Assist with tracking legislative and regulatory proposals, analyzing their potential impact on member companies

  • Maintain accurate records of advocacy efforts, interactions with government officials, and legislative outcomes.

  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure that the GR team works seamlessly with the Chamber’s broader goals and initiatives.

The Chamber Associate role looks to provide the candidate with breadth of experience.  Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as the need or opportunity presents itself.
