JA Malaysia Annual General (AGM) Meeting 2017

JA Malaysia recently conducted its first AGM for the year 2016/2017. Since the organization became a separate legal entity on 25th April 2016, we have grown in the number of programs while our student reach has also grown to more than 20,000 students in from various states in Malaysia. The chairman, Mr. Stuart Dean expressed his appreciation as the team at JA Malaysia have done an excellent job transitioning from being an organization under AMCHAM to a separate entity. He said “It has been a great year with new Sponsors and grants coming our way and we look forward to grow as an organization.”

JA Malaysia saw an increase in the student reach this year which was vastly due to the Cha-Ching Curriculum which is a financial literacy program sponsored by Prudence Foundation. The Cha-Ching Curriculum has managed to penetrate into 5 states namely Wilayah Persekutuan, Putrajaya, Penang, Perak and Selangor. With the help of the state education office we have seen the involvement of approximately 18,000 primary school students in this program. On the other hand, more than 700 students took part in The Young Enterprise (YE) program. The program runs in the Northern and Central Region. Over the years, this program managed to provide practical knowledge on entrepreneurship and business to Form 4 students.

Among other programs in 2017, the FedEx Express International Trade Challenge (ITC), JA More Than Money and JA Pathways to Employment were also high-impact programs that had a positive impact on the students in Malaysia.

The ever-growing team at JA Malaysia looks forward to more financial literacy programs in the coming year and are excited to work with new sponsors and organizations to expand the student reach throughout the country.
