ExxonMobil Subsidiaries in Malaysia

– ExxonMobil collaborates with government and local stakeholders to invest in programs that promote socio-economic benefits to the local community.

ExxonMobil has a long tradition of helping to improve the quality of life in the communities where we operate. In Malaysia, our support for the community focuses on four key areas: human capital development, energy literacy, safety and health, and business ethics.

In the area of human capital development, we collaborate with various partners to develop and increase awareness of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects. Special emphasis is given to initiatives that help identify future STEM talents and to motivate young people to consider future careers in these fields which are critical for Malaysia in achieving its developmental goals. These include the ExxonMobil STEM Awards for students, STEM teacher training programs and others. Energy related topics are incorporated into the STEM programs that we support to encourage students to think about the role and efficient use of energy in daily life.

We also make significant contributions to enhance English language proficiency among school children and helped establish three English resource centers in Terengganu.

We sponsor an entrepreneurial skills development project with the Terengganu Royal Foundation which provides training to single mothers and girls from low-income families to fulfill their economic potential and lead social change in their communities.

In 2020, we supported the community in the fight against COVID-19. Through a partnership with the Malaysian Official Designers’ Association, we contributed full medical PPE for healthcare frontliners. We also provided the police with supplies as they enforced movement control orders to limit the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
