Seiberling Associates, Inc. was founded in 1976 and has built long-term relationships with clients by developing innovative, automated and cost-effective hygienic engineering solutions.
Clean in place (CIP) technology has great benefits when applied correctly for sanitary industries, such as food and pharmaceutical manufacturing. If implemented poorly, it can create day-to-dayheadaches, or worse recalled product. We will review a case study of an existing installation which was modified by the plant with subsequent poor product quality because of improper execution.
Steam in place (SIP) technology is the typical approach for sterilizing equipment in place for pharmaceutical manufacturing. Similar to CIP, failure to execute properly can lead to serious product quality issues. This case study reviews issues with steaming equipment to maintain sterility. The root cause, tools, approach and resolution will be discussed for both the CIP and SIP case studies.
