Dow Chemical Malaysia Sdn. Bhd

– The pandemic does not stop us from caring for our community and environment. We did our best while ensuring all safety guidelines are met so that our people and partners stay safe.

2020 has been an unprecedented year with the community impacted substantially by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, that does not deter Dow Malaysia from continuing to contribute in various ways. In partnership with HOPE Worldwide Malaysia, Dow has engaged various segments of the community.

Dow supported 200 low-income families with care packs which include two months’ worth of groceries and hygiene products. Specifically, this has benefitted families including those who lost their jobs, elderly persons and single-parent family units. The deliveries were made across two months in April and May.

To help bridge digital literacy among underprivileged children from urban-poor families, Dow supported HOPE’s Robotic STEAM education & Micro:bit Boson Continuation Learning program. The program aims to create interest in learning to help shape the future of underprivileged youths in Kuala Lumpur. The program also provided opportunities to vulnerable youths in developing their engineering skills which aligns with Malaysia’s way forward in reaching a computation thinker society.

Against the pandemic backdrop, Dow’s perseverance to keep plastic waste out of the environment has led to selfpaced clean ups among its employees and their family members. Into its third year, the #PullingOurWeight clean ups took place between September 14 to 20 in conjunction with Hari Malaysia holiday. This initiative aims to create greater awareness of plastic waste in the environment, promote responsible waste management, encourage recycling, and aligns with Dow’s sustainability targets to Stop the Waste and Close the Loop.
