Deferment of 80% local workers requirement to Dec 31, 2024

MITI has deferred the 80% local worker quota requirement in the Manufacturing License for two (2) years to 31 December 2024.

The 80:20 local-to-foreign worker ratio are one of the conditions in the manufacturing license, issued in 2016 and meant to be complied by 31 December 2022.

The decision was made after taking into consideration the 2-year moratorium on foreign workers and industry feedback on labor shortage, which has affected business continuity and competitiveness. Please refer to the attached document.
