Building for the Future

When evaluating the sustainability & positive impacts that technology has on the built environment, it is important to adapt, improve, and to consider incorporating broader stakeholders and communities, beyond immediate investors or building users.

On 6 October 2020, AMCHAM held a topical webinar on ‘Building for the Future’. This session looked into the design, technology, and practices that enable built environments to progress even further in an attempt to achieve greater work efficiency and an environmentally friendly Malaysia.

Michael Doring, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Turner International gave an overview about ‘Green Buildings’, particularly those developed by Turner. Bill Carlson, APAC Integration Manager at Haskell Malaysia went into the technical aspect of virtualizing the construction landscape through technology. David Hashim, Founder, Group President, and Director of VERITAS Design Group spoke about the concept of resilience within the built environment and why it matters and what to consider moving forward.

Overall, the session was a success as we learn more about the built environment and how to incorporate resilience and elements of sustainability into it.
