APEC 2020: Looking Ahead to Malaysia

Malaysia will be the host of the APEC in 2020, bringing together the critical voices of regional economic integration, economic and technical cooperation, and sustainable business environment amongst a host of other areas. 

On the afternoon of Friday, June 21, AMCHAM hosted Tan Sri Dr Rebecca Fatima Sta Maria, Executive Director of the APEC Secretariat and Monica Hardy Whaley, President, National Center for APEC (NCAPEC) and Pacific Summit Resources at AMCHAM, and Aida Safinaz Allias, Head (Substantive), APEC 2020 National Secretariat, Ministry of International Trade and Industry Malaysia (MITI) to speak about the APEC 2020.

Attendees got to learn about APEC, the opportunity and impact of APEC in  the business world, the goals for 2019 and potential for Malaysia in 2020. Also discussed was what took place in at the past hosting nations:  Peru (2016), Viet Nam (2017), PNG (2018), and currently, Chile, as well as the plans for Malaysia. The attendees also had an engaging Q&A session afterwards.
