To ensure AmMetLife plays its part in helping to build more inclusive, financially secure communities, the MetLife Foundation is actively supporting programs in Malaysia aimed at promoting financial health and supporting local communities and youth.

Helping communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic

Through the “Bags for Needy” program, Food Aid Malaysia provide food supplies to low-income families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. With the support of MetLife Foundation, nearly 12,000 individuals were provided with essential food items, helping to ease the burden they faced during this challenging period. Corporate volunteers from AmMetLife and AmMetLife Takaful also helped out in sorting and packing food supplies which were then distributed to the families in need.

MetLife Foundation’s contribution to the MYAMCHAMCARES COVID-19 Relief Program led to the purchase of 6,310 disposable isolation gowns for five hospitals across Malaysia, helping to protect close to 250 healthcare workers treating COVID-19 patients in isolation wards across the country.

Encouraging gratitude through creativity

In May of this year, AmMetLife supported JA Malaysia in launching the “Show Your Gratitude Competition,” a program encouraging primary school students to express their gratitude towards their care givers, front line service workers and essential workers. Through this initiative, students were instilled with a sense of social responsibility while giving them the opportunity to be creative and appreciative of their parents, care givers and those working to help keep Malaysia safe during the pandemic.
