AMCHAM Small Luncheon with U.S. Treasury Delegation

AMCHAM has a close working relationship with the U.S. Embassy and, wherever possible, we strive to create opportunities for our members to engage in policy dialogues with visiting U.S. senior officials.

On Tuesday 14 January 2020, AMCHAM members in the financial services and technology sectors were invited to a roundtable discussion with Ms. Lailee Moghtader, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Treasury, to discuss the outlook, challenges, and opportunities for U.S. firms in Malaysia for these sectors.

A wide-ranging and fruitful discussion ensued, covering a number of priority policy areas including the benefits of allowing free and secure movement of data, the need to enable financial services firms to adopt outsourcing tools such as cloud computing, and updates relating to retail payment systems and the insurance sector.

Our thanks to the Embassy and to the Treasury Department for taking the time to engage with the AMCHAM community!
