U.S. – China Competition and Trade Policy: Implications for Malaysia
On 7 April, AMCHAM hosted a closed-door dialogue with Ambassador Daniel Kritenbrink, Partner at The Asia Group and former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs.
The session explored the evolving landscape of great power competition, U.S. trade policy, and the strategic implications for the Indo-Pacific. Drawing from extensive policy experience, Ambassador Kritenbrink provided timely insights into geopolitical developments, including tensions in the Middle East and the evolving U.S.–China’s economic relationship.
Discussions highlighted what businesses can expect in the near and long term, as well as how shifting global dynamics may impact Malaysia and the broader ASEAN region.
Attendees also gained practical guidance on navigating uncertainty, shaping strategic messaging, and mitigating risks, followed by a candid and interactive Q&A session.
AMCHAM thanks Ambassador Kritenbrink for an insightful and timely discussion.
