Malaysia Stamp Duty Briefing by PwC

The Malaysian Government announced in the 2025 Budget Speech that the Stamp Duty Self-Assessment System (SDSAS) will be implemented in phases starting 1 January 2026. To facilitate this, the Finance Act 2024 and the Measures for the Collection, Administration, and Enforcement of Tax Act 2024 were officially gazetted on 31 December 2024.

To help our members navigate this transition, AMCHAM hosted an exclusive briefing on 27 March, featuring Margaret Lee and Jason Kwok from PwC Malaysia. They provided expert insights into the implications of SDSAS on businesses and transaction costs. The session covered key topics such as stamp duty principles, practical stamping procedures, compliance requirements, penalties for non-compliance, and the Self-Assessment System.

A big thank you to our speakers for their valuable insights and for addressing our attendees’ questions!
