A Celebration of Creativity at IASAS Cultural Convention Hosted by ISKL!

The International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) hosted the 2024 IASAS Cultural Convention (CulCon) for Art and Film from November 7-9, bringing together creative talent from six international schools. Over three days, ISKL’s campus became a hub for artistic expression, featuring visual art exhibitions, student film screenings, and collaborative workshops led by professionals and alumni.

The convention highlighted storytelling, cultural exchange, and Malaysia’s artistic heritage. A red carpet event opened the festivities, showcasing student films at the Robert B. Gaw Theatre and an inspiring visual arts gallery. Art delegates explored renowned galleries like Rimbun Dahan and Ilham Gallery, participated in critiques, and joined workshops on techniques like mixed media and digital design. A standout project, Gelli plate printing, incorporated Malaysian cultural motifs, allowing delegates to celebrate unity and diversity through artwork.

Film delegates honed skills in cinematography and storytelling through hands-on workshops, including one led by alumnus Moe Izwan Kamal, who shared his journey and expertise in crafting compelling short films. Delegates also collaborated to produce short films at Rex KL and engaged in Q&A sessions with Malaysian filmmakers, gaining beneficial insights into the industry.
