Malaysia Aviation Decarbonisation Blueprint: An Overview
On 5 September 2024, Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport (‘MOT’) published the Malaysia Aviation Decarbonisation Blueprint¹ (‘Aviation Blueprint’). The aviation sector has undergone rapid growth over the years in order to meet increasing demand, and this has certainly become more evident in these post-pandemic times.
However, as a major contributor to carbon emissions, this sector has at the same become a challenge to the country’s goal to be carbon neutral by year 2050. To that end, the Aviation Blueprint represents Malaysia’s strategy with regards to managing the carbon footprint of the aviation sector, with the overarching objective of driving sustainable development.
