Keysight Celebrates Ongoing Commitment to Women in Engineering by Inspiring Future Generations

Honoring the incredible contributions of its female engineers, Keysight celebrated the recent International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) with pride. As part of its ongoing commitment to inspire more young women and girls to pursue engineering careers, Keysight Penang hosted over 80 girls in its annual ‘Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day’ (IGED) program. This initiative, which aims to ignite enthusiasm for engineering and STEM education among young minds, has been successfully running for more than a decade.

Driven by Keysight’s women engineers, IGED immerses the girls in the world of engineering, showcasing real-world applications and serving as powerful role models. The event featured hands-on science activities and engaging engineering talks, aligning closely with school curriculum to make STEM subjects relatable and enjoyable for participants.

A participating schoolteacher shared her enthusiasm, stating, “IGED is an excellent program offering hands-on science activities in addition to engineering talks. My students were very excited for the opportunity to join the program. I’ve reviewed the activities earlier and found that they are relevant to what my students studied at school. Thank you for showing that science is fun and interesting to them. This really helps the girls to have good insights on the world of STEM.”

Julia Hoong, leader of this year’s IGED initiative, expressed her inspiration from witnessing the girls’ growth throughout the program. “Seeing the girls’ curiosity and confidence grow reaffirms our dedication to nurturing the next generation of engineers.”

This year’s program was highly successful, with 98% of the participants providing positive feedback that they enjoyed the overall program, and 85% indicating increased interest in pursuing engineering. Keysight’s IGED continues to provide a glimpse into the corporate world while encouraging girls to explore careers in STEM fields, contributing to greater diversity and innovation in engineering.

Through initiatives like IGED, Keysight remains committed to cultivating a future where women in engineering thrive, paving the way for a more inclusive and innovative society.
