Critical Minerals Roundtable

On May 3rd, AMCHAM hosted a dynamic roundtable focused on accelerating Malaysia’s role in global value chains around critical minerals. This collaborative discussion brought together industry stakeholders including Members of Parliament, representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP), the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and AMCHAM members.

Guest speakers from the U.S. offered insights into the critical minerals industry landscape, governance frameworks, and policy imperatives.  Questions were lively and focused on the short and long-term strategies needed to propel Malaysia’s critical minerals sector forward in a manner that lays the groundwork for future development and is beneficial to the country in the long term.

Special thanks to our speakers Winfield Wilson, Adam Johnson, Dr. Vishnu Sundaresan, Helaina Matza, and Joe Christofanelli for bringing their expertise to the discussion and providing the session with crucial and necessary insights.
