Malaysia’s Avionics: Runway to Future Industries

On 23rd April, AMCHAM and the Malaysia Aerospace Industry Association (MAIA) held a half-day program to look at opportunities and provide frameworks to further develop the Malaysian avionics industry.

Naguib Mohd Nor, CEO of AMRACE opened the topic of the day and provided a comprehensive overview of the avionics landscape in Malaysia along with its potential for growth. He then proceeded to join Rushdi Abdul Rahim, President & CEO of MIGHT; and Nor Azrin Nor Azman, Senior Manager of NAICO on stage for a panel discussion surrounding Avionics in Malaysia, moderated by AMCHAM’s CEO, Siobhan Das.

Following that, Lim Yeong-Chuan (YC), Country President for Malaysia and Singapore of Honeywell; Lit Song Lee, Senior Sourcing Manager at GE Aerospace; and Mohd Shahiman, Chief Executive Officer, TUSAS Malaysia carried the second panel discussion of the day, the topic titled “Asian Aviation and Space Technologies Hub – Anchored in Malaysia”, moderated by David Jones, Managing Director of MAIA. 

The final panel of the day titled “Standards that Drives Growth”, also moderated by David Jones had panelists – Victor Tan, Regional President of Plexus; and KT Phuah, Customer Focus Team Director of Celestica discussed the regulatory environment of manufacturing for the Avionics industry in Malaysia along with the need for talent in the industry.
