Jabil Malaysia Hosts Global Volunteer Day on International Women’s Day

Celebrated annually on March 8th, International Women’s Day (IWD) serves as a global platform to honor women’s achievements and advocate for gender equality. At Jabil, we embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), striving for a workplace where everyone, regardless of gender, is treated with fairness and respect.

In conjunction with the 2024 IWD celebration, Jabil Malaysia won a bid to play host to the company’s Global Volunteer Day, making Malaysia a marque site to celebrate IWD through a series of impactful initiatives. These include:

IWD Women In Zcience 2024: Jabil Malaysia contributed to the launch of the Women In Zcience (WIZ) 2024 event as one of the key sponsors, underscoring the company’s commitment to empowering women’s participation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)-based careers to bridge the gender gap. The launch event saw the participation of 240 students from various secondary schools in Penang. The 9-month program – held from March 2024 to December 2024 – offers an immersive experience through science and AI workshops, engineering sessions, train-the-trainer programs, and ultimately concluding with a December factory visit that will grant participants invaluable exposure to practical STEM applications in the real world.

IWD Walk For All Walkathon: To raise awareness of IWD, the company organized a walkathon that saw employee participation from all levels in Jabil Malaysia.

IWD Social Media Campaign: A compelling video featuring our employees holding commitment cards with empowering messages in the local language, centered around the theme of “Inspire Inclusion.”

IWD On-Site Celebration: A joyful cake-cutting ceremony commemorating IWD took place across our Jabil Malaysia premises, fostering fellowship and unity among employees.

IWD Women’s Empowerment Training Sessions: In line with our commitment to inclusion, the company organized training sessions focused on women’s empowerment. Covering a range of topics such as building confidence through fitness and nutrition, regaining self-assurance, and crafting a strong personal brand, the training sessions provided a comprehensive empowerment journey for participants. By helping women articulate their unique value and gain self-confidence, the aim not only to uplift individual women but also catalyze positive change in the broader professional landscape.

IWD Health Talk: A virtual health talk was organized for employees, addressing the important topic of “How does hormonal imbalance affect a woman’s health?” This initiative aimed to educate employees and encourage them to prioritize their health and well-being.

At Jabil Malaysia, we remain dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where women can thrive and excel in their careers. Through all the efforts such as these initiatives, we strive to inspire positive change and create a brighter future for all.
