Western Digital partners with Tenaga Nasional to integrate renewable energy within its Malaysia operations
Western Digital has signed a collaboration with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) through its wholly-owned subsidiary, TNB Renewables Sdn. Bhd. to drive renewable energy implementation in its operations in Malaysia with the signing of the Corporate Green Power Agreement (CGPA) under the Corporate Green Power Program (CGPP).
Under this CGPA, Western Digital will acquire renewable energy from TNB Renewables Sdn. Bhd. The new solar power generation facility will be built for Western Digital’s consumption in Kedah. This would be deployed to three Western Digital operations sites in Malaysia, including SanDisk Storage Malaysia (SDSM), WD Media Penang and WD Media Johor, fulfilling 25% of the company’s overall energy requirement in the country. TNB Renewables seeks to provide competitively priced and consistent power supply sourced from renewable energy for various industries committed to sustainable practices and cleaner energy consumption.
