Our Future, Our Choice: rPET & Sustainability

On 11 October, AMCHAM held a Spotlight Session featuring Coca-Cola Malaysia, as they have just launched ‘Our Future, Our Choice: rPET & Sustainability‘ initiative. Taking on a more sustainable approach, Coca-Cola has implemented Recycled Polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) for their bottled beverages packaging.

YB Tuan Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Minister of Natural Resources, Environment & Climate Change, Malaysia graced the event and delivered the keynote address, elaborating on Malaysia’s handling of plastic and waste management as well as the policies put in place to transition towards a circular economy.

He then joined Kirsten Van Zandwijk, Director of ASEAN & South Pacific Sustainability, The Coca Cola Company; Roberto Benetello, CEO of Malaysia Recycling Alliances; and Khairul Anwar, Director of Public Affairs, Coca-Cola Bottlers Malaysia Sdn. Bhd for a panel discussion.

Coca-Cola showcased their rPET packaging, its manufacturing process, the impact that it has brought to plastic and waste management,  and how producers and brand owners can adopt rPET as a more sustainable packaging material.

Thank you to all our guest speakers and to YB Tuan Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad for attending the session.
