ISKL’S 2023-2024 Scholarship Award Ceremony
KUALA LUMPUR: Two Malaysian students were awarded four-year scholarships to study at The International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) at a special award ceremony held on February 20, 2023
The recipients of the innovative ISKL Pathways Scholarship were Dharnita Chandrasekaran and Braydon Wong. Currently students at SMK Convent Bukit Nanas, WP KL, and SMK Bukit Jalil, WP KL respectively, the two scholarship recipients will join ISKL’s student body of over 1,600 students representing more than 70 nationalities for the start of the academic year in August 2023. This is the second year ISKL has offered the merit and needs-based ISKL Pathways Scholarship which provides two Malaysian students who have completed Form 3 with a four-year period of study from Grade 9 to Grade 12.
The ceremony was attended by Puan Norliah binti Abdul Aziz, Deputy Director and Puan Majeedah, Senior Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications Unit, both from the Private Education Department, Ministry of Education Malaysia. Puan Norliah, who presented the recipients with their certificates commented, “I am so impressed with the high standard the students have demonstrated and congratulate them on the hard work that has resulted in them receiving this Scholarship.”
Mr. Rami Madani, ISKL’s Head of School thanked the Ministry of Education for its ongoing support and highlighted that the scholarship program is an integral component of ISKL’s community partnership. He then congratulated the recipients saying, “Dharnita and Braydon, beyond your academic achievements what really stood out to our scholarship interview panel, were the high expectations that you have for yourself and your desire to contribute to your community and create a better world. The diversity of your interests and passions, and your commitment to service and helping others are truly inspirational and embody ISKL’s Vision, Mission, and Values. We look forward to welcoming you and your families to our school and know that you will both contribute to enriching our community.”
Recipients of the Pathways Scholarship benefit from the flexibility of ISKL’s innovative High School study options that include the option to undertake the International Baccalaureate Diploma in Grade 11 and 12.
In addition to an appropriate scholastic level, students were required to demonstrate their alignment with ISKL’s Vision and Mission at a panel interview by showcasing their passion for creating a positive impact on local communities, understanding of global issues, and proven experience with a cause they believe is fundamental to societal progress.
