Energy Forum 2022: The Future of Energy in Malaysia
On 10 November, U.S. engineering giant GE organized its Energy Forum 2022 ‘Future of Energy in Malaysia’ in collaboration with TNB ILSAS and AMCHAM. GE has been a supportive partner with AMCHAM in various programs over the years. General Manager, Commercial, ASEAN and ANZ of GE Gas Power Yew Wei Nan’s succinct summary synthesized the opportunities and challenges for energy players in Malaysia.
The Forum was a platform to help Malaysia’s energy players reimagine how the transition towards greener, sustainable sources could happen and to explore whether grid technologies could support that transition.
Panel members include Malakoff Corporation’s Managing Director Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib, Energy Industries Council’s Regional CEO, Azman Nasir, TNB’s Project Director, Energy Transition, Dr Noor Miza Muhamad Razali and GE Gas Power’s Asia General Manager, CSA, Narendra Asnani.
TNB’s Head (Customer & Market) for Distribution Network, Sansubari Che Mud, University Malaya’s Chairman, Cluster Innovative Industry & Sustainability Science, Prof. Ir. Dr. Hazlie Mokhlis, GE Gas Power’s Application Engineering Regional Leader, Krishnakumar PG and GE Digital’s Chief Commercial Leader APAC, Giresh Prabhat led the second forum.
Important takeaways emphasized the importance of collaboration between public and private sectors, the need for capable human capital to manage the transition, and strategic implementation skills when migrating to green and clean energy.
