Herbalife Nutrition Foundation launches fourth Casa Herbalife Nutrition program in Malaysia in partnership with Hope Mission Welfare Society

KUALA LUMPUR, October 11, 2022 – Herbalife Nutrition Foundation (HNF), a non-profit organization committed to improving lives of children and communities around the world especially those vulnerable and marginalized, recently announced their fourth Casa Herbalife Nutrition Partner in Malaysia. Hope Mission Welfare Society, also known as Pertubuhan Kebajikan Misi Harapan, was granted close to RM85,000 for the first year. This also marks the foundation’s first Casa in the Northern region of the country.

Located in Teluk Intan, Perak, Hope Mission Welfare Society was established in 2008 to care for less fortunate children. The non-governmental organisation currently houses more than 30 children from the ages of five to 18.

Through this initiative, Herbalife Nutrition Foundation’s grant aims to empower the children with good dietary habits via regular, balanced, and nutritious meals, as well as nutrition education program ranging from making healthier meals to organising physical and sporting activities. Additionally, the caretaker of the home and the children alike will be able to enjoy a more conducive place to cook and prepare meals, as the kitchen and cooking facilities at the home will undergo a refurbishment and enhancement with the financial assistance from Herbalife Nutrition Foundation.

Steven Chin, Senior Director/General Manager, Herbalife Nutrition Malaysia and Singapore, said, “The Casa Herbalife Nutrition Program is a cause close to our hearts as it is aimed at improving the lives of underprivileged children. As such, we are pleased to expand this program with Hope Mission Welfare Society as our fourth partner in Malaysia, particularly as the home is sorely in need of financial support as a result of the challenges of the pandemic and rising cost of living. By encouraging healthier and balanced diets, we hope this will help give the children a better start in life.”

“What’s more, establishing our first Casa Herbalife Nutrition partner in the Northern region will allow us to mobilise our more than 20,000 Northern members to participate in programs that will encourage the children to adopt healthy and active lifestyles. This includes educational sessions as well as sporting events, environmental projects, arts and crafts and other fun activities.”

As part of on-going engagement activities under the Casa Herbalife Nutrition Program, Herbalife Nutrition recently treated two homes, Amitabha Charity Orphanage and Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Yatim / Miskin Rukaiyah, to fun-filled outings to Legoland, Johor Bahru and Petrosains, KLCC, respectively. This was a reward for the children for completing the Nutrition for Zero Hunger (NFZH) STAR Program, a 12-week nutrition education initiative under Herbalife Nutrition. This saw more than 50 children enjoying the memorable experience.

Commenting on the outing to Petrosains, Puan Siti Eshah binti Din, Manager of the Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Yatim / Miskin Rukaiyah, said, “We are truly grateful to be a part of the Casa Herbalife Nutrition program as it provides our children with the opportunity to benefit from proper nutrition education. More importantly, fun and educational trips such as this allow our children to learn beyond the classroom which is critical to their positive development.”

Mr. Chong Tzer Bin, Principal of Amitabha Charity Orphanage, also commented, “This was a great occasion for the children to spend time outdoors and visit an amusement park! Witnessing the smiles on their faces as they enjoyed themselves at Legoland was wonderful, and this is all thanks to Herbalife Nutrition. This reward encourages our children to take their health more seriously and they are now even more determined to maintain good eating habits.”

To date, Herbalife Nutrition Foundation supports more than 120 children in Malaysia from four homes under the Casa Herbalife Nutrition program. This includes Hope Mission Welfare Society, Good Samaritan Home in Klang, the Amitabha Charity Orphanage in Johor Bahru, and Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Yatim/Miskin Rukaiyah in Kajang.
