SUMMARY:2020 Cyber Smart Index and The Importance of Cyber Security Right Now
DESCRIPTION:“The COVID-19 pandemic is likely to increase the importance of cyber security. The likelihood and impact of cyber risks is increased with remote and mobile working”. \nBusinesses that embrace the concept of digital transformation perform better. Yet\, three in five businesses in the Asia Pacific region (APAC) have put off digitisation out of fear of cyber-attacks. The challenge for both businesses and governments is to make sure that they are protected and prepared\, even more now than ever before. Technology is enabling many businesses to allow employees to work from home\, technology is empowering students with remote learning and securing IT in health systems. Digital business focuses more on how technology allows companies and people to create new value and experiences that differentiate them and give them a competitive edge over their peers. \nAgainst this backdrop\, Deloitte Access Economics and VMware have launched a new report\, “Cyber Smart – Enabling APAC businesses”. In this report\, Deloitte Access Economics analyses cyber exposure\, preparedness and economic opportunity across 12 economies in APAC. Singapore ranks #1. This research finds that improving preparedness could increase APAC GDP by US$145 billion in the long term and spur the growth of what is already a US$22 billion industry. \nLooking at government frameworks and organisational capability across the region\, the report finds that nations with higher exposure to cyber risks tend to be more prepared. More developed economies are the most exposed. But with an average index score of 56 out of a best practice of 100\, APAC’s preparedness must improve. Clearly\, governments have the appetite to support cyber smarts. However\, businesses should adopt best practices\, and act today to better prepare for cyber risks\, and capture the benefits of digital in the future. \nThis AMCHAM Webinar will bring stakeholders together to share key findings from the report and learnings on the importance of cyber security. This webinar will drive a constructive conversation that protects everyone online via appropriate policies and legislation – from basic cyber hygiene principles to how governments and businesses can become more cyber smart. \nJoin industry experts from Carbon Black\, Deloitte and VMware to discuss why cyber security is especially important now. \nEVENT DETAILS \nDate: Tuesday\, 2 June 2020 \nTime: 3:00pm – 4:00pm \nLocation: Webinar powered by CISCO Webex Teams \nIf you are a non-member and wish to participate\, please drop us an email at events@amcham.com.my for more information. \n  \nREGISTRATION INFORMATION \n\nPlease note only REGISTERED participants will receive the webinar joining instructions via their respective registered email address\,24 hours prior to the scheduled session.\nKindly lookout for a Pre Event Information email from our Events team via events@amcham.com.my.\nIf you are registering on behalf of a colleague\, kindly ensure their email address is correctly captured to ensure they receive all necessary updates.
