SUMMARY:Registration Closed! How Malaysia Became The First
DESCRIPTION:Due to overwhelming response\, registration has been closed. We do apologise for the inconvenience. \n  \nJoin us on January 22\, 2019 from 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. (Registration starts at 2:00p.m.) at AMCHAM’s New Executive Office to listen to Rina Siew\, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager of Berjaya Starbucks Coffee Company as she shares the perspectives on how an American brand started its world’s first store that uplifts the deaf and hearing-impaired in Malaysia\, which inspired the world in the process. \nFrom the very beginning\, Starbucks has set itself out to be a different kind of company. Aside from achieving extraordinary coffee experiences\, Starbucks has made a business out of human connections\, community involvement and the celebration of diversity. It is the inclusion of diverse experiences and perspectives that help create a culture of empowerment at Starbucks. Our mission is to inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person\, one cup and one neighbourhood at a time. \nIn 2016\, Starbucks in Malaysia developed the Starbucks Signing Store project\, which aims to enhance the livelihood of the Deaf community by providing them job opportunities that empowers them. The Signing Store project hires Deaf partners (employees) to work as frontline staff\, as well as to manage day-to-day administrative tasks in the store. This helps the Deaf to develop their self-confidence\, self-esteem and self-reliance through discovery and experiences that give them pride and accomplishments to move forward to lead a functional and fulfilling life. \nWe would like to encourage the relevant staff of member companies to register for this program. Please note there is no charge to attend this program\, however\, seats are limited so kindly register early to book your seats. \nDue to space limitation\, we welcome a maximum of 3 representatives per company. If you do have more of your staff who are interested to attend\, do let us know and we will advise on the availability closer to the date. \nFor more information\, please contact Yvonne Miranda at yvonne@amcham.com.my
