SUMMARY:Penang Dialogue 2018 - Penang’s Competitive Edge: Developing Talent for the Digital Age
DESCRIPTION:Join AMCHAM at our annual Penang Dialogue on September 4\, 2018 from 9.00 a.m. to 1.45 p.m. at the Eastern & Oriental Hotel. \nThe Penang Dialogue is a half-day signature program that brings together AMCHAM members with key stakeholders in local government\, academia and civil society to discuss core themes related to doing business in Malaysia’s Northern Region. \nThis year we are focusing on the priority area of talent. \nPenang and surrounding areas have for decades been at the forefront of Malaysia’s industrial development\, welcoming global MNCs from the U.S. and elsewhere that have helped to drive Malaysia up the value chain. The advent of evermore sophisticated automation and A.I. presents great opportunities for Penang\, yet also comes with challenges. Penang-based companies need access to a highly-skilled and adaptable workforce to harness these new technologies\, and talent development will be perhaps the single most important criteria for the continued prosperity of the region. Preparing the workforce to thrive over the coming decades requires a long-term holistic approach with strong levels of collaboration between the private\, public\, academic and civil society sectors\, and this forum will welcome senior speakers from each of these spheres to share some of the latest developments and opportunities in this key area. \nAMCHAM is delighted to announce that Y.A.B. Chow Kon Yeow\, the new Chief Minister of Penang\, will deliver a keynote address as well as The Honorable Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir\, U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia. \nDue to overwhelming response each year\, we would encourage you to register early to avoid disappointment as we are unable to accommodate last minute requests. \nKindly contact Ms. Elyna Ngu at elyna@amcham.com.my for event sponsorship and corporate tables. We look forward to seeing you in Penang!

SUMMARY:Update On Malaysia's Renewable Energy Framework
DESCRIPTION:With the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) for Solar PV coming to an end\, the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia\, together with Malaysia Energy Commission\, has rolled out the net energy metering (NEM) scheme for the corporate sector\, an incentive by the government to promote the growth of renewable energy (RE) in the country. Companies in Malaysia not only can now self- generate renewable energy from onsite solar PV systems but NEM allows them to sell the potential excess energy back to the grid. This means corporate consumers can contribute to clean energy production and at the same time reduce their cost base\, solar PV being today significantly cheaper than grid energy in Malaysia. \nAMCHAM invites you to join the breakfast briefing session on Tuesday\, Sep 18 from 9.00am – 11.00am at the AMCHAM Executive Office with Cleantech Solar as they share case studies of companies like Coca-Cola\, Kellogg\, Cognizant and Becton Dickinson adopting solar-as-a-service in Malaysia as well as in the wider Asia region and find out how the new Malaysia framework can benefit your operations. \nThis program is recommended for Head of Operations\, Facilities\, Energy Procurement\, Sustainability and Senior Leadership in the company to find out how the new Malaysia framework and adopting solar-as-a-service at no upfront capital can benefit an existing business operation in the Food & Beverage\, Dairy\, Pharma\, Biotech and General Manufacturing industry. \nSeats are complimentary and available to the first 20 registrations received. For more information\, please contact Ms Elyna Ngu at elyna@amcham.com.my
